Hello everyone,

Well, the time has finally come. As our current officers will be beginning our clinical year in less than 2 weeks, it is my pleasure to introduce our new officers:
President: Josh
Adoptions: Michelle
Intake: Corbyn and Erin
Medical: Alex, Erin, Natalia, Kaylyn
Foster homes: Anna
Webmaster: Laurel
Events: Kait

I have attached the 2015 Foster Home Info sheet which contains the new officer list with the contact info for each person. I have uploaded it to the Google Drive and removed the 2014 version. I emailed it to the current fosters, but all new fosters need a copy either when they become approved fosters or at Intake.

All of the new officers have been training all semester and will be familiar to you. Each department will be fully transitioned in the next week or so. The outgoing officers are still available to consult with the new officers, but at this point the new officers are the primary contacts for both fosters and volunteers.

The officers that will be in Blacksburg running AWFP over the summer are Alex, Erin, Kaylyn and Josh. At some point this summer Josh will be out of the country and I will be acting as President for that time-we'll get those dates to the new officers soon.

I really want to thank all of you for the work and dedication that each of you has given to AWFP over the last year. We have accomplished amazing things together-we just rescued our 529th animal! This organization plays such an important role in saving animals in this area and I am so proud to have been a part of it! I know I speak for all of the outgoing officers when I say that AWFP has changed our lives and touched our hearts and that we deeply appreciate all of you. Thank you, thank you thank you! I will miss you all and AWFP very much.

Most sincerely,

Trisha

Hello all,

I apologize to mass email everyone BUT I am not sure who this would be best directed to thus I email everyone :).

On May 9th (a Saturday), MCFACC in combination with the county, is putting on the first annual FurFest.  The event will be an adoption drive.  Food, live music, dog demos, and other fun booths will be there.  (Shelter Med Club will be hosting a bake sale.)  This will be a great family event!

I have been able to secure a spot for AWFP to show off some of our fabulous dogs!  What I need to know is what type of space we will need (do we have a tent to set up?  do we need to borrow a table or can we bring our own?)  If someone could let me know, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Corbyn

Whose available to volunteer? I can come...depending on how long the event is possibly the whole time.
Corbyn, what are the hours?

Sorry!  The event is 11-3.  I would think volunteers should set up around 10/10:30 and break down by 3:30.

So it typically does not take very long to set up for the event (10 minutes tops to set up the table etc) I have the table and the event box, I could help set up at around 10:30 which I think is enough time to figure out everything that's going on and setting up. I have parasit on Monday though so I'd prefer not to stay the whole time if possible! I think it's a great idea as long as we have one extra as well as the dogs with their fosters/holders there since we have so many right now, it'd be awesome if we could set up some adoptions for the start of the summer. Plus 4 hours is typically how long the dogs last.

So jealous of you Trisha. I'm in the same boat as Josh in regards to Parasit. However, if I still have Penny by then or if the new foster is not able to bring her, I'd be more than glad to bring Penny for about an hour or so (due to her leash reactivity) so that she can get some possible adoption applications before the summer. I think a lot of people will fall in love with her.

I'll be at my sister's graduation in NC that weekend.  Sorry I can't make it and I hope it goes well!!! All of the dogs will be UTD on vaccines, spayed and neutered except Remus won't be neutered yet.  Given Remus's behavior lately we have to decide if he should go anyway.  He's been friendly around new people and wags his tail for pets, but if you do anything he doesn't like (like restraint or vet related things) he growls or snaps.  He hasn't bitten anyone, he just gives warnings, but I don't think I would trust him around kids at this point.  I think he will get better with some training and as he settles into his new life, but I think he needs some time.
