Dear JazzLatino Friend,

Our sister organization Friends of Chamber Music is inviting any interested jazz students or musicians to participate in an upcoming workshop led by jazz vocalist and composer Kavita Shah: “Introduction to Brazilian Music,” taking place on Sunday, March 22 from 2–4 PM at the SUNY Schenectady School of Music.

The class is designed as a hands-on session where students can bring their instruments and play alongside Kavita and her rhythm section (Fançois Moutin, bass; Elé Salif Howell, drums) as they explore several Brazilian pieces together. Rather than requiring pre-formed ensembles, the format is open. Students can join individually and participate as the group works through the music. Any interested vocalists are very welcome as well.

Links to the five songs that Kavita plans to use during the class are included here if participants would like to familiarize themselves with the material in advance.
