Just thought I would share with you my top five list of free natural
health newsletters. The web sites mentioned below typically have a
free advertising-supported e-mail newsletter, an online archive, and a
more in-depth paid hardcopy newsletter. They all have one thing in
common: they rail against certain aspects of conventional health care,
such as Big Pharma and the FDA, and a lot of that may be justified.
Most of the useful information that appears in the free newsletters
you can theoretically get from a number of sources; I just find that
having it right there in my inbox keeps it on my radar. In my
experience, if you unsubscribe from any of these, they will stop. I
have not tried any of the paid newsletters.

5. Free Health Updates, Julian Whitaker, MD. http://www.drwhitaker.com
. He has a lot of detractors because he is high-profile; you may not
like his flamboyant style or his product sales pitch, but he does know
a lot about natural health.

4. Daily Dose, William Campbell Douglass II MD. http://douglassreport.com
. This guy is highly opinionated and has a few funny ideas that seem
like they come right out of thin air, but again, he's very
knowledgeable and he seems to be constantly researching the
literature.

3. HSI e-Alert, Health Sciences Institute, director Jenny Thompson.
http://hsionline.com/ . A good source for information popping up in
the natural health literature. Seems to find some items that the
others miss.

2. House Calls with Edward Martin. http://healthrevelations.com/ .
This one was formerly headed up by a couple of MDs, and when the last
one stepped down, the editor did not want to see it die, so he is
carrying it on. Again, the free newsletter is a good source for
information from the literature. It has also leaned toward common-
sense health advice. I don't think there is a paid newsletter on this
one.

1. Nutrition and Healing . Health E-Tips, Jonathan V Wright MD,
Christine O'Brien. http://wrightnewsletter.com/ . The free Health E-
Tips is likely the best of the bunch, because of Dr Jonathan Wright.
He is a powerhouse in natural health, a true believer in the power of
non-surgical and non-drug medicine. Part of the newsletter contains
his answers to health questions, directly based on his own clinical
practice. If you only have time to read one of the five, this would
be the one.

Bonus item: The Life Extension Foundation http://www.lef.org/
publishes a hardcopy magazine with cutting-edge information about the
latest research and supplements. They are definitely out to sell you
their products, which are mostly high-end combination supplements, but
the articles are current and in-depth. They go beyond what you will
get in the free newsletters. As of this writing you can get a free
three-month subscription right on their web site. I got a free one-
year subscription that was offered in Dr Wright's free newsletter.
Who knows, maybe the offer will be repeated from time to time.

Enjoy naturally.
