Just wanted to give kudos to Peter Bacon Darwin and Pawel Kozlowski on their new book. I've looked at what few books there are on the AngularJS, and I really like the presentation of this one. In fact, it's the only one I would actually spend my own money on.

I bought both the book/ebook combination. This book shows some real depth of knowledge and insight into the framework, and fills a desperate need that has, until now, been severely lacking. And, that has been a real shame because I'm sure a ton of developers have looked at this framework, only to write it off because it takes real determination to learn it in the face of shoddy documentation, which is often contradictory. I mean, let's face it, most JS developers have zero OO experience, and even fewer have DI exposure. So, imagine trying to learn AngularJS without that background, and then trying to learn AngularJS with the current state of documentation and examples, which, quite frankly, requires a master Googler to even find.

Hopefully, this book remedies these failings for current and future developers who stumble upon AngularJS.

Thanks Ron! We hope that you find the finished product - hopefully out in the next month or so - as useful.  Do spread the word!
Cheers
Pete

great book indeed , congratulations ! it will definetly be a best seller for angular js developpers.

The issue with dependency injection is , unless one experiences the need for it , it is hard to make one understand how usefull and important it is. It completly changed the way i code. Now i write highly modular components without worrying about the wiring , with global variables and it makes the code more testable and future proof.

I found it on packtpub. Is that the best place to buy it? Want to ensure maximum proceeds go to Peter and Pawel.

Thnx for supporting us. Since the title wasn't released yet it is only
available through the publisher's web site:
http://www.packtpub.com/angularjs-web-application-development/book

Don't worry about our income, we wrote this book to give back to the
community what we've learned from AngularJS and here.
This is truly amazing framework and more people should know about it.

Thnx once again, I'm really proud to be part of the AngularJS movement.

Cheers,
Pawel

Ron,

thank you so much for the warm words. Messages like this make me
believe that the 8 last months were not totally lost :-)
Peter's and mine idea was to put in text what we've learned here on
the mailing list supporting the community.

I'm constantly amazed by the positive vibes that this framework is
triggering. I'm really glad to be able make it a little bit "dev
friendly" and uncover some of its "secrets" by writing this book.

Thnx guys for supporting us!

Now I can't wait to get back to coding after all this prose :-) There
are so many awesome AngularJS directives to be written!

Cheers,
Pawel

Hi, I checked the Packt Publishing for this book and it says the Book and eBook won't be available until July.  Is this still the case?

Thanks

Hi Rob!

Yes, we are going over the final stage of reviews and corrections. We
are not far from finishing the whole thing.
On the plus side the RAW version is available with most of the chapters:

Pawel

Perfect.  Thank you very much.  I've been all over Google's green earth looking for resources to put together an AJAX driven AngularJS app but everyone's interpretation is different and I can't really find a best practice on how to go about it.  I'm hoping this book will what I'm looking for.

Thanks again.

I have enjoyed reading the RAW book. Not so much the grammar or spelling issues ;-), but the hand drawings. I can only remember seeing refined diagrams in the books I have read. I thought the hand drawing was more effective.

Yes, well, that's true. After filling out my 3rd errata report, just for page 15 (for spelling errors), I gave up. Hopefully, as part of the final run through, they find a spell checker. :)  But, I don't get hung up on those things, since anyone who has been in this field for very long soon learns that developers are notoriously bad spellers.

Sorry about this, this is a "joy" of reading the "raw", un-edited version....
Many of those typos were already corrected and there is one more
proof-read scheduled so I hope that the final version will be "bug
free".

Yeh, so the process is that as authors we are delivering hand drawings
but those will be re-done by a graphical editor to look consistent
across the book.

Cheers,
Pawel

Thnx for sending info about those 3 typos you've found, this is much
appreciated. All of them were fixed 15 minutes after you've sent them
:-)
Sorry about having those typos in the first place but this is a raw,
un-edited form so all those problems will go away in the final
version.

Thnx for taking time to send errata and posting the feedback here!

Just bought the eBook from PacktPub.
Thanks very much to you (Pawel) and Peter for the significant amount of time you both invested to author this book.

The thing that I loved about the book is: they discuss the different and probably the longest way of doing things first, and then discuss the best practices.

At first let me congratulate on your work which is quite in depth. I just bought it today and going through it right now. I am very much impressed with the way you explained the AngularJS ways, I will recommend the book to all who want to learn it.
