Hello,
during ng-conf it was announced that Angular 1.4 will be released in a week. A month passed already and it still in beta 6. Any idea when it is going to be released?

the meeting notes give a reasonable insight into what's happening...

Hi Vytautas,

You can use any version of angular you like. Angular is backup up by a pretty strong test harness, and as a result pretty stable.
The reason it is called beta, is because the API has not yet settled, and can change between version. An RC has a settled API, and only will receive bug-patches.

Does that make it a bit more clear to you?

It would be great if they had a timeline for this - as am waiting for the new router functionality so can implement it in the application I am developing. I personally would rather use stable releases rather than RCs or betas  every other two weeks. I would also be interested in timelines for 1.5 also as it is key to using Angular JS in the application I am developing as am very interested in the migration path to 2.0.

I understand that everyone would like to have a stable release ready,
but here is the catch-22: the number or RC releases depends on the
community feedback, number of problems reported etc. So if no one is
giving us feedback we are not really sure if it is "good enough" for
the final release. Same with 1.5 - work on it will start when 1.4 is
out of the doors.

In short: the best you can do is to try out RC and give feedback. The
sooner / more people will do the closer we will be to the final
release!

Cheers,
Pawel

Hi MPhil,

Well, there are no guarantees, but I expect an stable release of 1.4 <10 weeks, probably faster. But you can't pin me down on this. if a large issue surfaces during RC's (unlikely but possible!)

Thanks for this - I think I will start using the RC version and report any issues if I have any. I guess it is taking longer than expected but no worries. I am just starting a greenfield project using angular and need to take into account version 2.0 so am very interested in the migration path in the longer term.
I appreciate all the effort on this but maybe it should have been made clearer that we are looking around 2-3 months for a stable version of 1.4 rather than a few weeks.
Regards
Mark
