are angular directives based on ESI Edge Side includes?

Greetings,
The more I have begun to look at the syntax of AngularJS the more I begin to wonder if the whole markup of angular isn't based on 
Edge Side Includes.

I use to think that that angular's ng:repeat ,etc style markup was some form of html5 microdata.

Even on this list, this "side notation" if you will has been called non standard. However, if angular is simply following ESI, then Brilliant.

Just wondering.

ESI is server side, we are client side. And this is the first time I have heard of it, so no, but I suppose one could build the ESI syntax into angular.
