Is there some kind of roadmap dictating when we might be able to see more of the components from Angular Material in Angular Material2?
Or something showing what is being worked on currently just to whet our appetite?!

Thanks!

Thanks, although its a little hard to read for someone not working on developing am2. It would be nice to see a more top level view. I'm just wondering if its worth me trying to recreate some original Material components myself or waiting.. it depends how long am2 will take.

Also are they planning to match every component from the original Angular Material?

I watched ng-conf. There way an Angular Material 2 session. At the very end, there way a really really shy statement that they plan to deliver a beta "in 2016". So I guess nobody should hold its breath and the final release will be available in about a years time.

This is extremely disappointing. Angular 2 development was announced like in 2013. Some kind of UI library is vital to do anything with it in a reasonable fashion. But for this we have to wait till 2017 as it seems. I don't want to question the technical competence of the guys. But project management of all this is one epic failure. They should hold off on all that mobile, cli, server-side rendering, etc. and start finishing the damn basics.

I think this is the biggest question regarding Material 2. I see that the original Angular Material is quite complete... It would be a great leap forward if the team asked the community to help bring the styles over to Material 2. I personally would take at least one component on as a side project if this was the aim.

Material 2 fills a huge gap when making the argument for Angular over other frameworks such as React. I believe we truly need Material 2 to shine in order to keep Angular growing the way it deserves.

There have been regular updates to the Roadmap in the README every 1-3 months. In fact, the Roadmap, list of existing components, and links to their docs was just updated 5 days ago.

One question I'm wondering about is if there are plans to align or reuse the Material Components Web https://github.com/material-components/material-components-web or if both projects will live on separately?
