Lake sorell

I noticed yesterday (8th dec 2007) the water in Lake Sorell is looking
dirtier than ever and very low level. With the high winds it was
creating a foam that is almost a solid along the windward shoreline.
It is shameful to be lowering the lake level to where it must surely
be at a critical low for not just water quality but for the vertibrate
and invertibrate kife in the lake.

I spent two days up there last week and the situation is nothing less than
tragic. If you think the water quality in Sorell was bad you should see the
stuff coming out of Crescent and going down the river. The management of
these waters is disgraceful and the lake now so low that they have to dredge
the channel in order to get a flow and the water is really light silt. God
help the users in Bothwell if this is the water that they are using.

The Government stands condemned for allowing the Lakes to be drawn down
below ecologically sustainable levels and weakening on the management plan.

It would be good if more anglers took up this cause.
