Currently we can enable ANGLE through developer settings or adb with Android 11 Beta.

According to the doc, it indicates that "when Android 11 is released the ANGLE APK will include a configuration file to enable ANGLE on a per-app basis". Could someone clarify what this means?

Does it mean users will still be able to enable ANGLE from settings or app's APK will contain information about enabling ANGLE, but users have no control over enabling ANGLE driver?

Hi,

The ANGLE APK was recently removed from Android 11.

It is still a goal to eventually provide ES over Vulkan via ANGLE. The change for the near term is that ANGLE will not be deployed via Mainline in the Android 11 time frame (and will therefore not be a mandatory module or have tests to enforce its presence). We are investigating options for how we distribute ANGLE in the future, with Mainline being one option.

Thank you for the reply. I just wanted to confirm does that mean ANGLE will not be enabled with release of Android 11?

Correct.   ANGLE will not be present on Android devices by default and will not be enabled for any apps.

If you're interested in testing your own local build of ANGLE, that is possible starting with Android 10:
