Dear Angel Knits,

I am contacting you in the off-chance that your group might be interested in participating in the interative area of Stokefest this Sunday 8th June. www.stokefest.co.uk. It is a free community festival in Stoke Newington which happens every year and attracts about 30,000 people.

The organisation I'm working with for this proposal is an Oxford-based fair trade organisation called Trading for Development (TFD) www.tradingfordevelopment.co.uk. The organisation links fair trade co-operatives in Latin America to suppliers in the UK etc. People will be able to learn about the producers; more about fair trade; the materials produced from different regions (Peru, Bolivia, Chile) and children (and adults) will have the opportunity to write them messages/ send them knitting patterns/ pictures etc and we will post it to them as the director of TFD works closely with these co-operatives with the aim of improving the local economy.

I thought that knitting & weaving would be the perfect medium to allow people the opportunity to see the wool they produce and learn how to knit.

I am hoping to reach out to the community via a knitting group and so was wondering whether this is something you might be interested in. It would be wonderful if your group would be interested in lending some time to give a knitting workshop for children and/or adults during that afternoon. If you have any comments or suggestions then I would be really pleased to hear about them.

Best wishes

Yolanda

I am happy to help out for a couple of hours! I love
teaching people to knit!

I am sorry, I have never actually come along to your
group ... I keep really wanting to ... It's always one
thing or another (normally work-related, huh.)
