to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into
complaints about stress in work and life.
一群工作上很有成就的毕业生，一起去拜访他们的老教授。大家聚一块儿海侃，侃着侃着，就开始抱怨工作生活上的压力。
Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and
returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups -
porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some
expensive, some exquisite - telling them to help themselves to the
coffee.
老教授给客人们准备了咖啡，他先去了趟厨房，回来的时候手上端着一大壶咖啡和好多杯子－－有瓷的，塑料的，玻璃的，还有水晶的，有的看上去很一般，有的
好像很贵，还有的很是精致－－老教授告诉他们别客气，随便自己拿。
When all the students had a cup of coffee in hand, the professor said:
"If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up,
leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to
want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems
and stress. Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the
coffee. In most cases it is just more expensive and in some cases even
hides what we drink.
老教授等学生都拿到杯子了，就说了：“你们要是注意一下杯子，会发现拿走的都是好看的贵重的，剩下的全是普通又便宜的。你们想给自己最好的，这很正常，
但这正是问题和压力的根源。要知道，杯子本身并不能给咖啡带来丝毫改变。往往它仅仅是更贵罢了，有时甚至会掩盖（？？）要喝的东西。”
What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you
consciously went for the best cups... And then you began eyeing each
other's cups. Now consider this: Life is the coffee; the jobs, money
and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and
contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change
the quality of Life we live.
你们心里想要的其实是咖啡，不是杯子，但是你们都自觉地拿了最好的杯子．．．然后你们开始互相攀比各自的杯子。现在，想想这个：假如把生活比作咖啡；那
么工作，金钱和社会地位就是杯子。它们只是一些承载生活的容器。所以我们杯子的种类并不会决定，也不会改变我们的生活质量。
Sometimes, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the
coffee God has provided us."
有时候，如果注意全放在杯子身上，我们就无暇品尝上天赐予我们的咖啡。”
God brews the coffee, not the cups.......... Enjoy your coffee!
