Please let me know in the comments. See just how much time a good black and white presets system will save you and take a look at the complete Silver 5 pack as well because this free presets sampler pack is just the beginning.

Portra is a classic film, the 160 leans a touch green and is very versatile. The 400 is warmer and probably the top portrait film ever and the 800 is less famous but has a bit more color pop and a rich look.

Portra gen.2 took the Portra presets that have always been part of my Filmist presets and made them so much better. I tinkered and calibrated for days to get the feel of Portra just right. It took a lot of film research and formulation but the result was worth the wait.

My Film emulsion Styles and presets include my Capture One Fujifilm styles and more inluding the pew Portra preset for Capture One. if you like what you see you can algio grab the FIlm,ist complete pack.

My Black And White Capture One Styles are one of my most popular packs, so I made a free sampler pack with vatiooys black and whuite styles for C1. Silver 4 is a must have styles pack for black and whit lovers that makes amazing conversion faster than a plugin and more controlled.

Natural HDR was a ganme changing preset pack beacus eits all about extracting natual HDR looks from single files. Like my other free Capture One stykle packs, you can doenload the mini pack for free and start oplayinga round.

As I'm sure most of you know already, the picture style editor lets a user create unique picture styles and upload them under user defined (up to three) on the camera. It came with something like eight unique styles built in (presumably as demo's). They seem to be exaggerated styles, not really of practical use. Likely to show the unique styles the program can create.

good point! i always shoot in RAW and adjust the shot to my taste, however, one converted to jpeg, if it is landscape, for example, then i have a little program called"contrast master", which does a great job giving the shot a nice pop. this program is thoroughly adjustable as far as increasing/decreasing contrast, saturation and so on that is super convenient!

I'll use some of the others occasionally to give flare, like the Nostalgia example. These can be applied in DPP4 to a RAW file, which is usually how I deploy it. I'll try each when desired and use the one I'm most happy with.

I did not have any luck getting either Picture Profile Editor to achieve matching results on my R, with former cameras like the 5D Mark III. The trouble is it uses whole values for saturation and tones, not fractional like you can in DPP4. +1 Saturation or -1 Tones, can be too much. Color substitution is tricky as it works wonders in some scenes, but destroys others, fair warning.

There are other 3rd party picture profiles out there but requires some hunting with Google. I actually like "Nikon" when you reduced the color saturation by 1. I stopped using it as I found the effect was over the top and not true to life. Way too much orange.

For what it's worth, I've found if you want to emulate older Canon on a newer Canon, try Fine Detail with +0.6 Saturation and -0.4 Tones. At times that's either not enough, or too much, still. That's the closest single recipe I could cook up, and the picture style editor being limited to whole values, doesn't help there.

It should be noted, picture profiles only engages the last step of color response: the JPEG engine, and influences the output from the product the lens + sensor + WB onwards and does not influence responses prior (obviously). That's why color can be so tricky.

I really appreciate the example photos! This is an issue I face all the time, over saturated reds in video. I have a preset in Lightroom to fix the issue with RAW but this will be useful for in camera use.

Things like this are exactly what I'm wondering about. Interesting how "Faithful" isn't all that faithful, and "Portrait" arguably looks the worst. Given the above - curious what she really looks like? The "Cinema" profile looks fantastic. Is "Cinema" an improvement on reality or representative of reality? A picture should tell you, but it clearly doesn't.

I did find an older DPReview article about Canon's tool showing modest steps like taking the various presets and tweaking saturation or contrast for different looks. I do admire artists that can do look at an image and know what they are going for in terms of look. I just play around until I think it looks okay. I have no idea if it could look better or how much is too much.
