I am using Arch linux (fully updated). I have been trying to get my BSNL 3G usb modem to work to no avail for the past couple of hours. I have already installed modeswitch, wvdial, modem manager, gnome-ppp, etc but whatever I try throws up some error or the other. When I try wvdial now, this is what I get:

So updating Network drivers will definitely boost the Internet speed on your Computer. This is an effective method and can be used to solve problem-related to Bandwidth. Like you are using driver which support up to 2.4GHz and your network gives 5Ghz, so updating to the latest driver will fix such problems.

Once you have downloaded your new driver, you'll need to install it. In Windows, use a built-in utility called Device Manager, which allows you to see all of the devices recognized by your system, and the drivers associated with them.

Before you look into drivers or concrete network settings, you should try restarting your devices. This means disconnecting your router or DLAN adapter from the power source and reconnecting it after around 30 seconds.

I had similar issues. I have a simple trick but it is temporary, but it is working for me and stopped BSNL ISP from tracking and pushing malware AD popup. I added a host entry in my computer for bsnl.phozeca.com and pointed it to localhost.

I have written this earlier on India Broadband Forum as well. You need to block 3 websites via URL Filter or hosts block:mutualvehemence.combsnl.phozeca.com:3000 (or c.phozeca.com:3000)decademical.com

WHOIS the 2nd website and you will realise that Bsnl itself is injecting these ads. Registered address of server says NS Cell, BSNL etc.. So the Head office of bsnl is responsible for this. (NS is probably network surveillance). More such websites will be released for JS Injection as 2nd website was not earlier used for injection

The easiest solution might be to use the Opera browser and its built-in "VPN" service. That is not a full-blown VPN, but it will use a secure HTTPS connection to one of Opera's proxy servers. Even if Steam sends its pages insecurely to Opera, the delivery over the bsnl network will be secure.

bsnl nic is a good internet connection with not much speed but with uninterupted net.
the problem comes when the signal is week(when the nic card is moved from one place to another)the sites take long time to open and some sites like orkut never open or will take a lot of time and effort to open

Maybe the number of users have increased in your area, so the connection gets shared or something. but better consult bsnl service center / customer care ( yeah, its a sucky procedure, but you might get to know something at the end of it )

i purches bsnl nic card. but iam not satisfied because serching and dawonloding and allways very low speed. i get high speed internet but low costly internet. so what to do ? suggest me my phone 9028389757

So far, neither of the solutions worked. I've turned off "Large Send Offload" on every adapter that I could find on both the host and the guest. Nothing. Restoring these settings in any combination with others turned off didn't work either. I've edited the .vmx file and replace the occurrences with vmxnet3, and that didn't work either. So far nothing I've tried has worked. I've disabled all firewalls and antivirus. Still nothing. When I run the Guest OS Windows Network Diagnostic, I get the, "Your broadband modem is experiencing connectivity issues." However, I know this is not the case. I've also used the "Virtual Network Editor" to force the Bridged connection to select the correct nic (in my case, it's the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1030 wireless adapter), but still no luck. Any help would be hugely appreciated.

I'm running Windows 10, build 10310. The network adapters are an Intel I218-V and I211 that are onboard an ASUS Deluxe X99 board. I've tried updating drivers, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

From what I remember, I only had to install 3G protocol and the USB drivers and my 3G USB was successfully identified and started working. I did this in v15.05.x so I'm not sure why this is not working for you.

There will be several access points saved by BSNL (received as messages) which will be bsnlnet, bsnlmms, bsnllive, bsnlportal, bsnlwap and bsnlstream.

Set bsnlnet as default access point for internet or configure it application wise to use bsnlnet as the access point when connecting to internet. This varies a lot with the different range of handsets available today. I would point out the procedure in brief for Nokia phones.

If the internet is working fine on your mobile but it gives an error connecting (like PPP link was terminated) when used to dialup internet on computer then make sure bsnlnet is entered as Access point under Menu > Tools > Settings > Connection > Packet Data.

But, maybe due to their ignorance, the dialler application is not quite effective in bringing even the most basic functionality expected - the 3G modem functionality, on today's versions of Ubuntu (10.04, 10.10).

Anyway, after some research and much experimenting, I got my device working as a 3G modem on my Ubuntu 10.04 with the help of Joshua Dietze's usb_modeswitch (usb_modeswitch is a simple but very useful linux script for switching the modes of such composite usb devices).

I installed EasyPeasy 1.6 and when I plugged in the BSNL 3G Teracom LW272 then it showed up a window in which there are Driver/Setup files of the modem for all Linux, Windows, Mac. BSNL has already supplied all the necessary driver/setup files within their modem itself. No need to use anything from outside.

Hi,
I was dreading having to muddle my way through setting up my 3G modem and potentially screwing up my Ubuntu 10.10 install on my desktop when I decided to Google Teracom and BSNL. I found the link to your manual setup first (I since saw the .deb you have created) and followed it to the letter. The result is a working 3G connection on which I am writing this comment - thanks a lot for the detailed instructions - I owe you a beer and if you don't drink alcohol, a fruit cocktail. If you are in Trivandrum - drop me an email .

Hey... I tried the very first step u hav mentioned and hav made sure tat my device is NOT the one foe which instructions are available here... Mine is a VisionTek 82GH 7.2Mbps HSUPA modem.. please help me with using it in my linux Os... thanx in advance

My current setup is as follows: I have connected the trunk provided by my provider to an NT, and am using a straight cable to connect the NT to the card according to the specifications in the manual. Also, I have set the card jumpers to NT mode from default TE, installed all drivers etc.

Most of the time we forgot the password of modem, so in this post I will tell you how you can reset your password of wireless modem of BSNL. In my case I have BSNL Modem VMC AN1020-21.
