Hi Anesthesiology Interest Group,

I wanted to tell you about a great opportunity. It is the FAER
(Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research) MSARF (Medical Student Anesthesia Research Fellowship).

From the FAER Website:
FAER created the Medical Student Anesthesia Research Fellowship to encourage talented medical students to consider careers in anesthesiology research and perioperative medicine. The MSARF program offers medical students an 8-week anesthesia-related research experience and the opportunity to present research findings at the American Society of Anesthesiologists Annual Meeting.

I was a FAER fellow and it was an amazing experience. I did research for 9 weeks during the summer between my first and second year of medical school. Also, 15% of your time is spent shadowing different anesthesiologists. But the best part was presenting my poster at the ASA Annual Meeting (which will be in San Diego this year).

Most of the people that signed up for this were MS1s but there was one 3rd year doing it my year.

Elizabeth Vogel, MS3 (elizabet...@gmail.com) and Arney Abcejo, MS2 (abc...@gmail.com) were FAER fellows. If you have any questions about our experiences, please contact us.

For more information here is the website:

Applications are due February 1, 2010.
