Kick is a 2009 Indian Telugu-language action comedy film directed by Surender Reddy from a story by Vakkantham Vamsi. The film stars Ravi Teja, Ileana, and Shaam (in his Telugu debut) while Brahmanandam plays a supporting role. The film has music composed by S. Thaman. Released worldwide on 8 May 2009, the film is a commercial success.[1]
Kick received widely positive reviews. A critic from Sify.com gave a review stating "The film has been made well but it could have better scenes. Overall, since there are no other movies in sight now, Kick being a paisa vasool movie will definitely have a good run at the box office".[5] A critic from Indiaglitz.com gave a review stating "The film attempts to provide complete entertainment from start to end and except two scenes where there is a sentiment and melodrama, the rest of the movie runs mostly on comedy and action along with few thrills and twists. But then the movie could have been a lot better if the speed was worked upon and also the fights were not much in the movie which could have pushed in more adrenaline. Good mix of various elements, can be watched."[6][7]

Ravi Teja's strength is his ability to take a home grown theme and build upon it with a strong sense of nativity. Directors, like Puri Jagannath, who realize this are very successful with Ravi Teja. Director Surender Reddy seems to have missed this point and eventually his "kick" has backfired
What is it about : Kick is about an adrenaline addict called Kalyan (Ravi Teja). For Kalyannormal is boring. The more different a thing can be done the greater thekick he derives from it. The first 40 minutes of the film are a laugh riot. His introduction scene where he gets the MLA's daughter married off to hisfriend, and how meets his eventual love Naina (Ileana) are typical RaviTeja laughathons. The scenes between Kalyan and his father (Sayaji Shinde)have good content. Sayaji Shinde's attempt to justify his son's erraticbehaviour in terms of a young man unwilling to compromise his individualitydrew cheers from the audience. The director introduces another side to RaviTeja. Our hero steals for kick - and boy he steals big. His target is Rs.500 crores from a political party, the money which he says is going to beused for treatment of terminally ill children. In his pursuit is inspectorKalyan Krishna ( Shyam ) who meets Naina in a train and proposesmarriage to her by the time they get down in the platform! The rest of thestory is about how Ravi Teja steals his Rs. 500 crores and wins Naina back.
What is Good:The cast does an impressive job of their roles. Ravi Teja, Ileana andBrahmanandam have done so many roles like these that they sail throughtheir characters effortlessly. Rasool's cinematography is a revelation asis his song picturization. As usual the comedy sequences between Halwa Rajaand Kalyan are hilariously funny. Nothing thoughtful but you will laughheartily. The first half of the movie especially the first 40 minutesraises expectations that this is going to be a mega hit.
Tailpiece: What was producer Venkat thinking while handing over reins to directorSurender Reddy? Surender Reddy's forte is action movies and Ravi teja'sstrength is comedy with slight doses of action. It is no small wonder thatthe kick lacked punch!
This scene from the movie Tommy Boy is a classic! Tommy Callahan (Chris Farley) and Richard Hayden (David Spade) set off on a journey to pitch their latest brake pad project to prospects across the U.S., which results in some fabulously absurd scenarios like the one above! This movie is brimming with over-the-top comedy, so if you loved the crazy sales scene above, you should check out the full movie too!
The trailer teases that the film will be an out-and-out-comedy film of course with Santhanam's trademark one-liners. Kick also stars Senthil, Mansoor Ali Khan, Thambi Ramaiah, Senthil, Brahmanandam, Sandhu Kokila, Manobala, YG Mahendran, Rajendran and Vaiyapuri, among several others.
Meanwhile, Santhanam was last seen in Agent Kannayiram. He also recently announced that he is part of another horror comedy after Dhilluku Dhuddu 1 and 2. Meanwhile, it is also speculated that he will be part of Ajith Kumar's AK62, directed by Vignesh Shivan.
