maxquant1.5 crashes when i try to add .FASTA file

Hi,

i just downloaded maxquant 1.5 and have not been able to add .FASTA database files to the andromeda configuration--the program crashes when i try to save the newly added files. has anyone else seen this?

Did you copy over an old database.xml from a previous MQ version? unfortunately they are incompatible.

This can happen if MQ doesn't have write access to the files in the conf directory. Make absolutely sure this isn't the case (e.g. if you extract it into "Program Files").

I am having trouble with adding databases to Andromeda too... it keeps crashing.  Do I need to put the database into a specific folder?

Andrew Sobala is right. This is caused from a lack of write privileges by MaxQuant. Run it as an administrator and make sure you have privileges to write to the MaxQuant directory.
