Speech Services by Google - endless download

HI,

Speech Services by Google was updated 28 Dec 2021 and

many users are reporting that it seems to download a language update (almost) every day. On my devices it downloads automatically (turning automatic updates off in Google Play Store doesn't stop it), and the download is in my notification bar for a long time.

Not even sure if it eventually succeeds or just gives up after an hour or so.

Is anyone else getting this?

Do DS speechrec and texttospeech use it?

Google Play Store lets me remove all updates (but not actually uninstall).

Yes, getting it but only on 1 phone.

The "CANCEL" won't stop it either.

HI,

There's loads of bad reviews on Google Play (loads of users have rated it with one star only)

and there's plenty of posts on different web sites, so it seems to be pretty widespread.

I removed all updates, and turned off automatic updates. That's quietened it down.

Now we just need to know when it's safe to update.

HI,

Google seem to have put out a fixed version on Play Store.

I installed it, and the problem seems to have cleared up.
