The APK builder, along with other plugins, is DroidScript's main/only form of income, without it the project wouldn't be able to stay alive much longer. By making the APK builder purchasable, users can support DroidScript and get the full functionality of it.
The income given from the ads would not fair up to the income given by purchasing the APK builder. Also, the plugins are all half price now, so you could get it whilst it's cheap!

Hi Guys, 

It's true what Kieran says.  Our bank accounts are nearly empty at the moment and we need people to buy the plugin to keep the project going!  

We are trying to find some funding for this project but is it a slow process and it helps if you know the right people really. So if you know anyone in high places (perhaps educational circles) then please let them know how great DroidScript is and how we need funding to make it better (and expand the team too).

Thanks Nikhil to mention this point, now some of us have a better idea how this works, personally Droidscript has been the best and more practical tool I have ever found to work with,  I am not a programmer of a developer, just some one who really likes to program. 

I tried years ago to learn C++ and got frustrated because I couldn't really go out of my PC without a wide knowledge in programming, same happened with JavaFX in order to get out of my PC the user had some kind of software installed so the program could run, the last I try was droid script editor and I couldn't run a single line of codes, according to some reviews I should have a super computer to run the emulator, so now I found this language that allow me to do something practical as easy as put your phone at the side and play with your codes in your PC (excellent idea), not mentioning the easy way to publish your work, beside that the support has been excellent.

(Consider that I am not a programmer)

I don't know if that exist, but consider "a way to make a donation to the project" at everyone discretion, for those who wants make an appreciation to your project...

Yep, it is still valid and it still works  (I just donated one dollar from my personal account and it worked fine).

I should probably move the page off the filewrench.com domain onto the androidscript.org domain so that people feel more comfortable with it I suppose.  

The other way to donate is to send Paypal payments directly to sup...@androidscript.org

I'm a big supporter of this application, it has great help and support for people new to programing, there are free programs avaliable to make apks but are a lot more complicated to use. It is also great to see an application with no pop up advertising when you are trying to write code. So please support the application. If the app is so good you make you may get your money back :).

Yup... I agree with Graham. In the end, its a tool for our own livelihood. It helps us all. You spend a few bucks and in return, get much more. So buying the plugins will help all the community. So, those who can buy those, just buy them though you don't want to use it.

And one more thing is that DS is always under development. So, whatever are the issues can always be fixed or improved.

I have an idea... or rather, one has fallen into my lap recently:-

Personally I detest annoying and irrelevant advertising, so I have resisted it so far, but perhaps our strongest commercial asset is the shear number of 'geeks' or 'wannabe geeks' who are downloading DS per week! Well I was recently asked by the maker of an educational electronics product (that DS can control via Bluetooth) to place their product on our web site. We would then get commission in any sales. So, that might indeed generate some much needed income when (and if) people go to our main site... but I'm thinking, what if we put a one time splash advert on initial download of the App? That would generate more than 5000 views per week to a relevant audience and not be too intrusive to the regular users!

What do people think? Can you live with that?

That sounds like a great idea of avoiding the constant annoyance of adverts. Definitely a good way of involving additional income with minimal annoyance! :)

Hi Dave,
I can live with that if it starts just for one time after the download. I dont like apps with permanent advertisement!
But in DS itself is no link to the DroidScript main website in the about dialog. You should put a link in the dialog with the next version. So every user can fast go to your site.
Maybe you could create another dialogbox with all contributors and a link to there website.

Dave, I have no issues with a pop-up immediately after a download.

If you are placing adverts on your site, I agree with Timo that you need a link to your site in the about box.

As long as it is a one time popup, does not appear in programs created as .apk, and is only for relevant products that work with DS, I'd say go for it!  (And yes, do link to the site in the about box).

Just my 2 cents: decrease the plugin price! Right now it's a bit expensive and you are loosing money from all the undecided people that maybe would buy it without thoughts if it cost less (say 2€)
