This can be caused by using an invalid package name.

When you are building the APK, what have you put in the input field at the top of the dialog?

com.myname.myfirstapp

I don't think it's the name as I've try building apk for helloworld
which gave the same error just recently.

please advise.

The next most likely is that you are using a different password than the first time you built a release-buid apk.

Can I also suggest that you should also change the "myname" bit to something personal to you.

Is there anyway to reset password or something?
I remember doing everything in default for testing purpose.

I'm getting this error when I try to build an APK.  I have built debug APKs before (last October I believe) but never release.

I checked /sdcard/DroidScript/APKs and it is empty-- there is no file called user.keystore to be removed.

For testing, I'm building the default Hello World project (with name com.iglooware.helloworld). Version 1.0, with and without system assets, it fails.

Note that I am running the 1.34 Beta, and have 1.4 Gb free on my SD card.

Have you updated your apk-builder plugin?
It needs to be downloaded each time a new version of DroidScript is released.

Yes, I just updated it.  It downloaded and appeared to update fine.

What is the last thing you see before you get the error message?

When you build your apk, do you get a dialog asking for your details?

Do you get a warning message to backup the keystore file?

When I build an apk, I first get the "Build APK" dialog.  For my test of the hello world app, I'm using the package name "com.choggiung.helloworld", version 1.0, Debug Build and Include System Assets checked.

After clicking "OK" I get a "Building APK..." progress bar which goes to 99%, then I get the "Error: Bad Password or Key file!" message.

I did not receive a warning about backing up the keystore file (and I don't believe I have one, since the /sdcard/DroidScript/APKs folder is empty).

Interestingly, when I freshly started DroidScript this morning and tried the build process again, it gave me an error stating that the APK Builder plugin must be installed first (though it was previously installed and I had just reinstalled it yesterday).

After reinstalling it again this morning, I still get the "Bad Password.." error when building, but at least it doesn't make me reinstall the plugin every time I restart DroidScript.

Did you ever get a response to this? I've written an app, and bought the APK builder, when I try to run the Build APK, I get this same error.

Using debug, & include system assets, it's sits at 'Building APK... ' at 0% for a couple of mins, then gets to 99% and reports back 'Bad Password or Key file!'

Also tried doing it without debug ( so it created the keyfile ) , get the same issue.

John,
What package name are you using at the top of the "Build APK" dialog?

What is displayed if you run this line of code in a temporary app in the IDE?

alert(app.GetFileSize( "/sdcard/.DroidScript/debug.keystore" ));

Thanks Steve,

I tracked the problem down, ( was saving results ou while testing , and one of the save files had a weird char in the name) , got rid of that file and all good now!
