Just an FYI that I have banned and removed the discussion topics from
the most recent round of spammers.
On other news, what do people think the Sept 10th release by Motorola
will contain? As I heard at Google I/O this past spring - "there will
be at least 18 Android devices out by the end of the year." The year
is running out of time. We'll definitely need to see some member of
the OHA pick up the pace. I'm getting worried! =)

I haven't seen much speculation/press this week on the Motorola announcement. From what I was hearing since earlier, I would expect to see the Sholes, Morrison, and possibly some cheaper, lightweight phones ($99 or less).
As far as the 18 devices out by the end of the year, I can't see there being 18 Android cell phones out by the end of the year. I can see that number including the desktop phone, tablet, and other offerings from vendors. At least there should be a phone out on each carrier. Sprint has announced the chin-less Hero, Verizon should have the Sholes by end of year, and T-mobile has the 2 options already with more to come.

Did the quote say there would be 18 devices in the US or was it worldwide? There are currently 4 devices wouldwide: Dream, Magic, Galaxy, and the Hero. There's talk about some China market only devices like the Click. I heard rumors about the Galaxy Lite, Sholes, Morrison, Touch HD2, Pulse, ODROID, LG GW880, Dell Benzine and the couple Huwei models. I wonder if they're going to consider the Sprint Hero a separate device from the worldwide Hero. For that matter, will they consider the worldwide variants of the existing phone as separate phones (Magic vs ION vs MyTouch). The Heron and Lancaster have been canceled.
Add up all the existing, rumored, and canceled phones and you're darn near 18. But like most of you, I'll believe it when I see it.
I'm really excited for the Sprint Hero. I had Sprint service from about 1997 to 2007. Then I went to Helio, which used Sprint towers. I was always happy with the service. I haven't been unhappy with T-Mobile, but I'm also not impressed with them. Although I've never been charged for data or voice roaming, and I've used both.

Even though I'm kind of locked into T-Mobile, I'm actually relly
looking forward to Sprint (and Verizon??) to offer an Android phone.
They just have such a more larger presence here in the US than T-
Mobile and can get themselves in position to actually push out tens of
millions of phones. T-Mobile just doesn't have the network to handle
this.
With all of hte phones being released in Europe and other places, we
might see 18 Android phones by the end of the year, with unfortunately
just a fraction of them being offered in the US. That would be a very
lame excuse google.
On the subject of spam however, I have deleted those users and
messages that we spamming the group.
Please keep posting interesting questions and discussion on Android.
I'm very happy to see all of the activity on the group and local
developer interest in the platform!

All,
I've changed the setting of the group so I need to approve the first
post by a user. Hopefully this will eliminate the spam. Also, stay
tuned if you are interested learning more about Android game
programming. The Mobile Twin Cities user's group is planning to have a
local Android game programmer (Robert Green) to speak in October. Stay
