Hi,

I'm trying to install Android-x86 2.2 to my USB flashdisk (Kingstone 16GB), and the plan is to plug it into my Asus EeePC 1000HE and boot from it.

What I'm already do is :
- Download the Android-x86 2.2 for EeePC ISO file
- Make a Live USB using unetbootin (another USB flashdisk, Apacer 128MB)
- Boot from Apacer USB and choose "Installation", Kingstone USB not plug-in yet
- Then I get a list of drive available, sda1-sda4 (I think this is my hdd), sdb1-sdb4 (again I think this is my Apacer USB)
- Then I plug Kingstone USB and then I Choose "Detect.." and I get sdc1, this should be my Kingstone USB right?
- Then I choose to install to sdc1...
- Format the Kingstone USB... (I tried many times using ext3, ext2, and also ntfs)
- Install boot loader (already try both, YES|NO)
- System read/write (YES)
- Progress...
- Reboot, unplug the Apacer USB, then boot from Kingstone USB

And then I get....

"no bootable partition in table"

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Or Android-x86 can't install into USB and boot from it?

Anyone have a success on this?

I have not try to install to the internal HDD since there is many data on it and I don't want to mess with it, so I prefer to run it from USB, and I have try also the Live CD and it can run, but of course I can't save the app/data/state on it.

Any suggestion?

Best regards,

Titus

Two solutions :

Format the USB stick before the install process. Don't even try the
ntfs option as I don't think it was implemented in this build.

Then at install procedure, just install without formatting.

If this don't solve the problem, format in fat32 and redo as above
stated.

Don't know if it's a grub issue or not ?

Hi Arobase40,

Thank's for your reply.

I have tried your suggestion, and I format my flashdisk using my Windows XP
Home Windows Explorer and Command LINE, but no options to format it to other
filesystem other than FAT32, I can only format it to FAT32.

After I format it with FAT32, I try to install android-x86 without
formatting...

But same as before, I get "No bootable partition in table.".

I see at the installation menu, I can Create/modify the partition and I can
have an option to make it Bootable, but unfortunately my USB flashdisk, both
sdb and sdc is not listed there, only the sda HDD.

Maybe if I can make the partition bootable I can solve this issue.

Other thing, on the android-x86 project site, I've read that the android-x86
can't save the state/data/app on FAT32, right? So I think the best solutions
is to format the USB using ext3 filesystem, but I'm not sure I can format
the USB using ext3 on Windows base machine.

Any suggestion?

Best regards,

Titus

Hi,

Finally I can install and boot android-x86 2.2 from USB Flashdisk on my ASUS
EeePC 1000HE :).

What I am doing that different from before is :
- Format the USB Flashdisk using FAT32
- Create a boot loader (if not I will get message "Error 15" during booting)
- Create a disk image (in order to be able to save the data/state/app on
FAT32 partition), I create a 1024 MB disk image.

Other questions :
Since I am a visually impaired person, how I can enabled the accessibility
options, especially the text-to-speech feature?
Also, is there any way to unlock the screen without mouse, perhaps using
some combination key or arrow key on my keyboard?
And last question, how to simulate the "Menu" key, e.g. on E-mail app, how
can I launch the menu in order to compose a new mail?

Thank's before :).
