I'd like to help fill the gaps in IPv6 support in android-x86. The
networking implementation in the OS doesn't appear to resemble other
Linux distributions. I can't find any documentation on networking
configuration.

Can anyone give me some pointers to help me get started?

What "gaps" do you want to fill? The underlying Linux kernel supports IPv6 just like any other Linux distro. When I last checked, IPv6 also worked in the browser quite fine, so other apps should support it as well.

DHCPv6, IPv6 configuration in GUI, and anything else that's needed.
I'd like to see IPv6 work "out of the box." Even the large Linux
distributions are not quite there yet. There's a misunderstanding in
the community that IPv6 is only needed for power users.

DHCPv6 is evil. Android does use route advertisements successfully.

However, from what I remember of doing various tests using a rooted
desireZ, a number of apps didn't actually work with IPv6, so if you
have a 6-only website or service they wouldn't connect.

You won't find 3G operators using IPv6 except maybe Andrews and Arnold
in the UK who have a special arrangement with Three.

Hi, is there any updates in filling the gaps of IPv6 supporting, especially in dhcpv6?

I'm not sure if ipv6 is officially supported by ICS.
In Android-x86 4.0-RC1, all kernel configs
needed to support ipv6 are enabled.
So if the framework is ok to handle ipv6,
it should just work.

For dhcpv6, did you mean server or client?
The server side is dnsmasq, while
the client side is dhcpcd.
You should check if the version shipped
with ICS has v6 support.
If not, you need to port v6 version yourself.
