Hi everyone,

I hope i am not doubleposting because i send this comment to Issue 537
on project-page, too.

I'm using a Lenovo S10-3T, Model 0651, Factory ID CS20. It has got a
Broadcom 802.11n-wifi-adapter. I was testing the new *.iso's that have
been uloaded (20111225):

First i have to mention that the screen adjustment worked out-of-the-
box for evry image (even the amd_brazero, which UI is crashing the
whole time because of the chip-error of course). I think i understand
that the automatic screen adjustment is one benefit from ics...?

Test results:

eee_pc-image (ics-x86) :
keyboard o.k., touchpad o.k., bluetooth o.k., no wifi, no touchscreen

asus_laptop (ics-x86) :
keyboard o.k., touchpad o.k., bluetooth o.k., no wifi, no touchscreen

tega_v2 (ics-x86) :
no keyboard, bluetooth o.k., no wifi, touchscreen works perfect (feels
very good!)

Due to my poor knowledge i am not able to build an custom image on my
own. But it would be great if some of you could try to build an image
with the following drivers:

touchscreen (from tega_v2-iso)
bluetooth (every tested iso worked)
keyboard (from asus_laptop-iso)
broadcom wifi driver as mentioned above

As i am following the project since some time i want to remind of the
android-2.2-r2 build for the s10-3t where there was a wifi driver
included that worked (although it had only 56k during my tests which
is too slow to be fun). Maybe someone can take those configs and bring
them to ics-x86?

Contact me if You need someone to test your builds for lenovo S10-3t.
I'm running the image on an sd-card so i can simulate a "hardrive"-
install, too.

Hi T K, i also use s10-3t with android x86. I am waiting for a s10 3t
specific image. I believe there are lots of people out there who would
like to use an ICS image on their s10-3t, like you and me.

I would like to test nightly builds also, please contact us.

I also have an S10-3t. I am in the process of configuring a build
environment now and going through the documentation on how to
customize. Don't expect much any time soon, but I am going to give
this a shot and see how far I can get.

Hi, please try this image:http://www.megaupload.com/?d=GL9PDFHA
honeycomb on s103t: touch, ethernet and wifi work.
I will soon commit the configuration files to the android-x86 git
server.

Happy New Year!

Hi,
could you provide more details, do you means application crashes ('force close')? Or system crash? If you meant the later, no, I don't see it.

hi everybody,

first of all @Robill: thanks for the new file, it is the best shot
after the working froyo-image in my opinion. I tested the iso on my
s103t (specs as posted above):

touchscreen works

multitouch works

keyboard works

wifi can be activated, still no connection
(its scanning and finding my network, but keeps showing "conecting..."
when i entered the password, so there is something missing because i
still cannot get a network-connection. In the same time i have got an
"Alice-DSL-modem" working as wifi-spot and there are many known bugs
with android. Perhaps someone test the image with another wifi-
environment)

bluetooth is not working
(after i tried to activate it, i can't deactivate it because the
system keeps "activating" it somehow. as result the GUI crashes evry
20 sec and it reboots by itself. Even a forced system-reboot (power
off) dont change anything, the system keeps on trying to activate the
bluetooth and crashes. in the end i had to reinstall it completely)

USB-drive is recognized as sd-card (when installing without "fake sd-
card")

APP "open manager" cannot be opened (keeps on crashing immediatly
after activation)

Lenovo Keys are not working (those aside the screen: "sound on/off",
"rotate screen" and the "Home"-Button which worked in the froyo-
release)

Trackpad is working

Performance is a bit slow compared to the ics-tegav2-image from
androidx86.org.

Unfortunately I ended up with a useless system because i cannot access
wifi and there is no option to install applications with an usb-dongle
due to the not-working file-manager. I tried to access the usb-dongle
via "settings"->"applications" searching for the content of the "sd-
card", but the *.apk's i put on the usb-drive didnt show up.

Thanks anyway for this great progress in working on a stable version
for our lovely netbook-device :) i hope to see more builds coming up.
please keep on testing the image on your devices and report whats
going on so the developers get an idea of what causes the existing
problems.

Hey Robill,

I read your post about the wifi-problem with Froyo and Lenovo s10-3t.
It seems that my problems with your new *.iso are the same like back
then. I can activate the wifi-card and it finds my AP, but still i
cannot connect. Its exactly what you were describing in the old post.
Maybe the solution you found for the problem in Froyo can be brought
to honeycomb, too?

just guessing...

have a nive weekend !

Hi TK,

whatever was fixed in froyo is also in this already. New problem always occurs whenever android version has changed.

About the wifi, I see this issue now in my office. At home, it works fine, but at office it doesn't. I noticed that the wifi
router in office has those WPS feature enabled (don't know whether this is related), do you see any 'WPS' string at your router descritpion when android lists all the APs?

Moreover many people reports wifi only works with WPA-router not WPA2 (maybe you can try to change your router
to use WPA instead of WPA2?).

I am currently working on ICS (fixing audio), but all the changes I have done has been pushed to the git.android-x86.org server. So, for those keen enough to build themselves now can find s103t target for gingerbread and honeycomb. My plan is to go straight for ICS, so the problems in those version may left unfixed. Hopefully can upload an ICS iso soon with working audio.

regards,

Robill

Thanks for the build! I tried the Honeycomb download and it indeed
works better than any of the previous ones I have tried. I am also
experiencing problems with the WiFi. I can connect to my home network
and add the WPA2 password, but then it goes into a connect/disconnect
loop. Just thought that might help point you in the right direction.

I appreciate all of your efforts, I am working on being able to create
my own builds, so if you need any assistance I am more than happy to
help however I can.

Touch -> working
keyboard -> working
Trackpad -> working
Sound -> working

wifi -> not working
bluetooth -> not working
Camera -> not working

due to the missing open-manager (or any file-manager) i was not able
to test the following:

USB-Drive -> ?
SD-Card -> ?
Multitouch -> ? (no picture to test zoom)

Hello all you S10-3T-user out there,

while we are waiting for a new *.iso to bring us ics & wifi out of the
box, i tested a few game apk's within the latest ics-tegav2-build
(20110101). Those are the games i found definately working on our
lovely device (all of them are freeware):

Bebbled
Barrr
Defender (installed as default)
Fruit Slice
Gem Miner
Geared
Guns'n'Glory
Replica Island (controls wont do but game is running)
Tap Fish

Not a game but still useful:
Documents to go (problem with sd-card but app is running)

Does someone know some more games/apps that work (remember we dont
have wifi yet)?

Have fun!

Hello!!!!!! sorry for my english.

I'm so glad I found this discussion!!!!

I am the owner of Lenovo s10-3t with broadcom wi-fi. Prior to that, on
any of the assemblies did not work wi-fi. Now I download ISO Android
3.2 from robill post. after installation to tell about the results)

Ideally I would like to get the assembly working wi-fi audio and touch
screen

I downloaded the image - but it does not start. just write :
SYSLINUX 3.71 2008-07-31 EBIOS Copyright © 1994-2008 H. Peter Anvin

so cannot check.

And more, I downloaded the image from the discussion :
http://groups.google.com/group/android-x86/browse_thread/thread/30cb86d25de4d78

working there wi-fi (included, see the network but not connected),
sound, keyboard. but the touch screen does not work. not at all. And
yet it restarts after about 20 seconds (the problem, as described
above)

Could you build an image based on 3.2 with working wi-fi, sound and
touch screen?

assuming you are using thumbdrive to boot the iso, you might want to try:
1. reformat the thumbdrive on windows (FAT32) first and. rewrite the iso image using unetbootin.
2. if still fails, try to use another thumbdrive (it happened to me once, had 2 identical thumbdrives, one works the other doesn't).

please provide more details on what you did.

Hello,
I've managed to get Wifi Running on Lenovo S10e which if i'm not mistaken has the same wifi card as the s10-3t. Using wl.ko module and a minor change in the build.

The steps I followed are applied to a ready image, I used the eeepc image since it already has CONFIG_WL=m in the defconfig

In ics the wpa_supplicant uses the nl80211 driver, while in Honeycomb it uses awext.
In init.rc of ICS it defines the service for wpa_supplicant to use the nl80211
What I did was get the wpa_supplicant file from /system/bin/wpa_supplicant of a Honeycomb image and replace the one in ICS
I unpacked the ramdisk.img file and modified the init.rc, replace the word -Dnl80211 with -Dawext, then repacked the ramdisk.img

The init.rc modification can be easily done at compile time. However, I couldn't get ICS to build with the AWEXT driver. So I had to resort to modifying it after installing.

I hope this helps.

Hi Shady,

Thanks, in fact I have read your post before and am trying it. Not only new driver nl80211, but ics also uses different
wpa_supplicant version (version 8), while honeycomb uses version 6. Now, that ethernet is working fine, wifi is next.
Hopefully your suggestion will work. Actually, the image I have uploaded also compiled with CONFIG_WL=m, so if you got chance you might want to try your idea on this image.

Actually you can still use wpa_supplicant_6 by setting
WPA_SUPPLICANT_VERSION ?= VER_0_6_X

BTW, I remember Jan reported the brcmfmac driver
works for him with nl80211.
Could you also check this?

Yep, tried that. For some reason compilation failed because of the following in device/common/generic_x86/BoardConfig.mk (honeycomb does not have this):

BOARD_WPA_SUPPLICANT_PRIVATE_LIB ?= private_lib_driver_cmd

changing that to:

BOARD_WPA_SUPPLICANT_PRIVATE_LIB = libCustomWifi

fixed the compilation, no idea though what that is for.
I shall check brcmfmac later. Thanks.

For the record, I use usually UltraIso. writing to the program and
after loading with a stick appears on the screen "SYSLINUX 3.71
2008-07-31 EBIOS Copyright © 1994-2008 H. Peter Anvin" and get stuck
on this. I've tried 4 different flash drives.

I also tried unetbootin. When I write in this program, and then boot
from the stick, then it will not load and the screen only blinking
cursor.

how about clean reformat in FAT32? Have you tried that?
Unfortunately,
this is beyond my knowledge. You should get grub menu at least.

FWIW:

I made Shady's changes and was able to get it to build but there still
seemed to
be issues...changes as follows:

changed:

BoardConfig.mk
BOARD_WPA_SUPPLICANT_DRIVER ?= AWEXT

WPA_SUPPLICANT_VERSION ?= VER_0_6_X

removed:
BOARD_WPA_SUPPLICANT_PRIVATE_LIB ?= private_lib_driver_cmd

init.rc
service wpa_supplicant /system/bin/wpa_supplicant -Dawext -c/data/
misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf

Hi! I just used WinImage.with this program I was able to record the

I really do not like the fact that assembly removed from a standard

setting up my account google. And I have some reason not working

Robill,
Thanks for this build. I am testing the live Cd images of 3.2 and 4.0
now on an AAO
110 ZG5 with eGalax touchscreen mod. Has an Atheros wifi chip.

What works: keyboard, touchpad, wifi (connects in 1 sec with WPS2),
and best of all, the eGalax touchscreen is recognized by the GUI.

Touchscreen calibration is wrong though. With devtools/pointer
location, the touchpad button gives a nice two axis location. The
touchscreen gives lots of diagonal lines. Multitouch seems to work,
but gives even more diagonal lines like a fractal.

If this a matter of calibration, anyone knows how to calibrate?

I tried the alt-F1 shell (and su) but cannot launch ts_calibrate.

I'm a linux noob so don't know what to do.

Perhaps other eGalax owners could have a look and compare Robill's
build to other builds and find a way to patch these?

Thanks all

Mike
Thanks mike

EDIT my previous message (platform AAO 110 ZG5 with eGalax touchscreen
mod):

On 3.2 and 4.0:
Android Market link doesn't work, not in Live CD mode, not when
installed.
When installed, the screen lock cannot be removed. Neither lock nor
circle can be moved.

Hop this helps debugging.

I need help!

Accidentally clicked on the inclusion of Bluetooth. Now, the system
reboots after about 20 seconds. the settings can be seen that the
system tries to enable bluetooth. because it is stopping the

stop it? completely reinstall the system would not want to

Hello Resiak,

I have not worked android-x86 for some time, and the version that I had working on my S10e with wifi was pre RC. A lot of changes have been merged into the source since then that you will be missing out on. Also, at some point I believe some merges made, that my trick no longer worked with.

What I had done was take the wpa_supplicant from a Honeycomb build and replace the one in ICS.
Obviously, the ICS image had to be built with the WL.KO driver included
Last step would be modify the init.rc script to have the wpa_supplicant use the awext driver instead of what is defined there.
There is a post somewhere on this group with all the steps. However, as I said this no longer works with the latest source.

I will try to find the image I used, I might still have it on my netbook somewhere.

I hope this info helps, Although I do believe you should try to get wifi working with the latest code. Soon 4.1 will be merged and this trick will not work with it either.

Hello Shady,

Sorry for not being very constructive, but I´ve been searching the internet for hours now to find someone who got Wifi working on Lenovo s10e.
Because of my poor skills I am not able to solve this problemon my own, but I would love to use ICS or Honeycomb on my s10e since I am really interested in Android but have no money to buy some Android hardware.
Could you upload your version with working Wifi and give me a link?
Would be great!

Thanks a lot

Hello,
I've managed to get Wifi Running on Lenovo S10e which if i'm not mistaken has the same wifi card as the s10-3t. Using wl.ko module and a minor change in the build.
