Hello. Just wanted to post progress with my Dell Venue 8 Pro for anyone else trying.

So I was using an installer to install Androidx86 in Windows without creating a partition, but this wasn't ideal. However creating a partition in Windows, and installing Androidx86 8.1r1 x64 on an ext4 partition has worked the best. Creating partitions in Windows tablets has proved difficult, however disabling Virtual Memory allowed me to create a partition and install.

Once this was installed, there might be issues with applications, however enabling Native Bridge in settings allows most apps/games to work.

I have noticed that anything network intensive may drop the wireless signal, and only reboot will enable this again. Seems this could be firmware related, however I'm not sure. Would be nice if there was an easy way, perhaps through command prompt even, to disable/enable the network service, without restarting the device.

I also added the following in the grub config which makes sleep and screen timeout play nicer. I added this after "selinux=permissive" which seems to work.
  • sleep=1 acpi_sleep=s3_bios,s3_mode
So far this has breathed new life into my old Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet and is amazing! Thank you so much to everyone on the Androidx86 team for all your hard work on this.

A nice to have would be Night Light, or Night mode, in settings for blue light filter and scheduling.

I don't know much about Android development, but I would like to add the Night Light feature to Androidx86. I found the information needed here, however, it seems like this can only be implemented on creating a ROM. Is there any way to implement something like this without building the ROM, and just editing files in the install I have, with read/write permissions in Android?

I don't think that's possible.
Besides, we haven't implemented a Hardware Composer HAL yet.

There is an app called Blue Light Filter and Night Mode :

Does exactly what you're looking for.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, I see lots of these type of apps in the Play Store, however they are just overlays, was looking for the native thing that does this way better.
