I have compiled firefox for Android-x86 following various blogs on how to do it.
It is not called firefox - it is called fennec
and here is the link to the .apk
https://rapidshare.com/files/1897396798/fennec-20.0a1.en-US.android-i686.apk
Copy it to a usb stick and click on it ot install it as per normal.

Enjoy!!!

Please post problems so they can be fed back to mozilla.
It will also be nice to know if it works for you (hardware/version of android-x86.

Tried it, the screen doesn't complete drawing properly, the rounded edges on the tab bar are square, and the settings pips are occluded, (though still usable) but if you try anything at that point it bombs out, this is on RC2 on an original eeepc 701 SD, which I was fairly surprised to learn runs Android at all, let alone this well :)

It installs like any other apk that you download (not from google play). Use 'Open Manager', naviagte to wjere you put it and double click on it. If that doesn't work you will have to download again as it might be corrupt.

I got to the bottom of why it only runs after the first install, but I haven't managed to work out how to fix it permanently yet:

It stores its loadlibraries in /data/data/org.mozilla.fennec/lib , but this is not included in the search path.

I now just need to work out how to make including it in the search path permanent.

Any help appreciated. I tried to export it in init.sh, but it did not work.

OK. Not elegant or the way my instincts would like to do it, but you can just copy /data/data/org.mozilla.fennec/lib/* to /system/lib
Any better suggestions appreciated.

Sounds strange.
It is the default path of each app.
The lib should be found.

I just tested the apk you provided.
No problem after rebooting.
Your system must have some issues.

Hi everyone,

I just spotted that this issue is now closed off:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=750366

Mozilla themselves are now building Android x86 Nightly builds.

The latest one as of now is in:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/mobile/nightly/2012-12-20-12-15-07-mozilla-central-android-x86/

Note each new androidx86 build seems to be going into its own folder on the nightlys ftp site above.

Maks.

Maks,
Well spotted, now I can do a bit of a cleanup on my machine and get back some disk space.
Cheers
