kernel panic in virtualbox

trying to use the x86 4.4 rc1 iso, in both 64 bit and 32 bit virtualbox get a kernel panic

immediately when trying to boot the try android without installing or the installer.

my host is ubuntu 13.10.

the android system works fine if it installed to the hard drive but i could not figure out
how to dual boot.
