On the eeepc I have implemented the power button action. When you push
the power button, a dialog will pop up to let you shutdown the machine.
If you have a normal PC, I'm not sure if it works or not

Any PC or NB with and ACPI power button should work.
Even on virtual box, you can invoke it by the menu
Machine -> ACPI shutdown
(hotkey: Right Ctrl + H)

Having said that, I think we may add a shutdown or reboot
icon on the desktop so people can find it easier.
Do you agree, Yi?

Not any PC, on different device, the power button may have a different
keycode. My sony does not work with the current code.

yes, but just don't have time to implement it yet

Use Alt-F1 to get the console, and type "reboot -p". This will power
down, but it's almost instantaneous, so I don't really know if it's
doing an orderly shutdown.

Hi David,

This is an orderly shutdown since it runs through the shutdown runlevel. It just so happens that android-x86 is light enough that computer systems, in general, can very quickly take it down. Even my Ubuntu (with lots of background services) shuts down pretty quickly on my pretty average system so there's no surprise there. :)
