Android (like any other Linux OS) does have a shell, which can be accessed via a terminal emulator app (most common is jackpal's Android Terminal Emulator).
As for adb utility, if you can build adb against bionic libc, I see no reason why it would not work (if someone knows better - do correct me).

Hey folks, can I run adb commands on the actual android x-86?
Is there a terminal/shell I can install onto the Android-x86 (if even needed) and run adb commands to see my apps, connect to another Android device, etc :)
or do I have to push the SDK adb into the Android x86 first hand or is it by default in the /system/bin/adb directory.

thanks so much and happy Holidays,

Android uses different libc, so normal Linux ADB binary won't work.
You have to compile ADB from source using Android NDK compiler.

Hey Povilas,

what did you mean by:

specifically "build adb against bionic libc," ... so do I have to do something or I can run ADB commands on the Android x86? :)

thank you for your replies.

I guess there's no need to compile adb...

It appears that most recent Androids already include adb utility in /system/bin/adb and Android x86 is no exception.
So it should be possible to link 2 Android devices without using a PC by just typing adb commands in terminal app. Using adb does require root though.

As for Android x86 root, all images are pre-rooted.

I guess I could just do what he does here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2604727/how-can-i-connect-to-android-with-adb-over-tcp

that way I can wireslly connect my android to the android x86. Do you know if the Android x86 images are rooted? Or do I have to roo them? :)

thank you Povilas and happy holidays.

I guess the reason I want that is to have a connection between two android devices which I've seen is possible! So I want my physical android device to run adb commands and tell the android x86 to do stuff :)

It seems Android already has adb in /system/bin/adb.

I think no need for adb, since you've everything ready for text mode usage (Ctrl + Alt + F1)

unless you're talking about fastboot (which is usually packed with adb). Not possible, at least for now, since we dont have bootloader or recovery like 'normal' android does.
