Hi Group,

I already have a JB android-x86 running with libhoudini, but no gapps.
I'd like to install gapps AND libhoudini in the "source tree", in order to build an ISO file with both of them (I don't want to install them afterwards).

Is it documented somewhere?

For libhoudini, I copied in vendor/intel/lib the two houdini libs and then the ARM libraries in the subdirectory ARM.
When I create a new VM with the produced ISO, the libs are in /system/lib and /system/lib/arm.

BTW, I didn't get it to work with Kitkat...

Anyway, could I use the same sort of trick for gapps?

Thanks.

Dunno Whats up With Everyone Tripping over libHoudini I've had 4..4.4 Kitkat (Android X86 RC2) Installed on a EXT2 Partition for almost 7+ Months and libHoudini was there on Original install, now I'm not sure on a VM install cause It lagged so bad I couldn't stand it... But if you Mount the Images In Linux and Decompress the File System In RC2 it's right there......

Ok, so houdini works like this in androidx86. Firstly, install your system as read/write, a shell script will need to uncompress files into your /system/lib folder. Secondly, make sure you have an internet connection when you first boot yer new androidx86 install. don't worry if you don't, the shell script runs on every boot. but it needs internet to grab a compressed archive, then it uncompress' it into /system/lib/arm. the houdini libs live in this folder along with the arm compiled compatibility libraries. once this step is done, install this universal gapps installer.   http://dn.odroid.com/GAPPS/GAppsInstaller_kitkat.apk then enjoy arm compatability and gapps installed and ready to use!

what i do is install this gapps installer apk into my builds and then just run that on first boot to make an easy install of gapps. it doesnt violate any of googles licenses about distributing gapps with an uncertified android build. houdini can be preinstalled in the same manner as long as it is not being distributed as such.

the shell script is called 'enable_houdini' FYI.

just to say, you also have no indication at all that it is doing any of this. it is all background running scripts. but if you have a root enabled file explorer, you can watch as it downloads the archive and expands it into system/lib. just have faith, it is installing. it takes about 10 minutes depending on your internet. just boot and let it sit with internet. it will happen.

Hi,

I managed to build a functional ISO for KitKat 4.4.4 working with VirtualBox.

I added the GApps installer for 4.4.2, but as expected, Google Play Services
keep crashing (but the apps are there, how cool is that?).
If someone wants to play with it, you can grab a copy at http://dl.free.fr/rBEN4aHjJ .

Thanks,

I had a similar situation with the 5.02 test release and could not find the correct release of Play Services with Google. I believe the version you want is 6.5.99 (164263-470). I did discover that if you tough it out, keep clicking OK, try to do other stuff, let it just sit for awhile, and reboot that Play Services will eventually get updated automatically.

Ya I noticed that on the HD install of 5.0, I wasn't getting the error from the start.

I just looked at my 4.4-r2 install and it is running 6.5.99 (164632-070) and it is not having issues. Slightly different build than 5.02.

Thanks, guys, I downloaded the 6.5.99 version at home without proxy or firewall, and it updated itself.
I don't have the annoying message anymore.
I still have to understand how to get it up and running behind a corporate proxy now.
