Did you already had a look into the Google Play app store? There are
some free ftp clients ready to install...

In case no one has noticed yet... he wants to *write* an app, not download it.

Hello,

I fully understood. But why writing if there are good working ones, even
for free...? Yes, I know, I am boring and lazy... ;->

Hi Talha,

You don't need to develop anything about your project.

There's many java libraries ready to use for FTP transfer.

I recommend you to download network protocols client library from Apache Fundation

Add the needed JAR to your Android project libraries and classpath in Eclipse.

Then build your user interface. ( add volatile dialog box to input ftp user id and ftp user password )

You can also adapt Open Intent FileManager (source code provided in archives)

... and add menu option to transfer files to a FTP server. ( Intent returns the file path selected by the user )

That's all !!!

I hope it helps.

Regards.

AndFTP -- available for direct download from
http://www.lysesoft.com/products/andftp/index.html#download and also
from the Google Android marketplace. It is free (no ads) and works
quite well, with support for FTPS (both explicit and implicit), SFTP,
and SCP (SSH Secure copy).

SwiFTP -- open source and available for direct download here (free,
with no ads); a server version is also available from the F-Droid
repository

No need to reinvent the wheel. I have used both of these and like them
both ( I especially love AndFTP ).

Hi,

I think Talha is more interested to develop a small application by itself. Because if i believe to understand, Talha need to make it for "end study work". Am i wrong ?
