an Android-x86

Hello,

is it possible to get Android-x86 working on this board? It has a nForce 730i Chipset and GeForce 9300 integrated graphics. Booting Android 9.0-RC2 stops every time in text mode with blinking cursor. Is there any chance getting it to work?

Best Regards

Does booting a standard Linux distro (say Ubuntu) succeed? If that doesn't work then there probably isn't much that can be done from Android-x86's side. Also, you may want to try the 32 bit version if you haven't already.

I've installed a full ZorinOS 15 64 bit, it is based on Ubuntu. Works great. I've then installed Android-86 in the EXT4 partition to share them, this works. But I haven't tried to boot Zorin because I have to install the GRUB bootloader to a second harddrive.

Beside trying a Linux distro a quick Google search reveals that
FreeBSD should have a driver for the GeForce 9300. Maybe you could
give FreeBSD a go and see it works.

The result is consistent with CPU not supporting ABI requirements for 64bit
You could try 32bit iso, start from lower android versions ISOs e.g. nougat-x86, marshmallow-x86

The board is modded to a Xeon L5408 Quadcore and has 6 GB RAM, 512 are used for the graphics unit. The onboard nVidia 9300 GPU is connected to a PCI bridge as it seems.

Ah, so you have a 775 motherboard with 771 processor, SSE4.1 and SSSE3 are supported by Xeon L5408, but do you see they are supported in the Linux distros?

test 1) With GeForce 9300 integrated, pie-x86 is anyway unstable due to mesa, so I recommend you try with nougat-x86

The ITX motherboard has a PCI-X slot, could you please try the following and provide information about your tests results:

test 2) try to add a Radeon GPU using r600 chipset, to see if GeForce 9300 is the problem

I have tested ZorinOS 9 and ZorinOS 15 Ultimate 64 bit, they are Ubuntu-based and working. Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit works, too.
MacOS 10.5, 10.6 and 10.9 are also working perfectly with the integrated GeForce. Even sleep is working which is usually the biggest problem.
Well, in Leopard I'm loosing NVidia LAN after sleep, but this is solved by an Atheros 5212 WLAN card. So the PCI-E slot is used.
I also want to use the board for AROS, an AmigaOS-based operating system. It mainly used old nvidia cards, the 9300 chipset is supported. That's why I'm not using a PCI-E gfx card.

Ok, I'm not interested in using the highest version number if it will work. Android 7 is Nougat, what about Android 8 Oreo?

Seeing Ubuntu or Windows 7 64bit work does not imply in general that x86_64 build will work
https://developer.android.com/ndk/guides/abis Android ABI x86_64 requirements are more stringent

You need to check that the Android x86_64 ABI instruction sets are supported by your cpu

nouveau is blacklisted in oreo-x86, because nouveau is affected by GPU lockup with Renderthread, I recommend you try nougat-x86
