I am trying to buy a touchmonitor my Android[x86 computer. Does anyone have any recommendations on a touchscreen monitor that is compatible with Android-X86?

Also, if anyone has any recommendations for a touchcontroller / touchscreen combination with multitouch support, I would appreciate that inforamtion as well.

Buying something without checking seems like it could be a huge waste of time and money.  Thanks all for any recommendations you might have.

Regards,

Dan

I was wondering the same thing.

I'm assembling an Android-x86 desktop for my son since there are so many good free/cheap apps available for kids, but most of them are intended for touchscreen use. Also, touch is extremely helpful in getting kids interested and helping them learn.

What hardware are you using? What version of Android-x86?

About the HP, I have some mixed thoughts.

I bought a TX2 3 years ago and only now I can see nice operating systems for it like this android project and windows 8.

The machine is still up to date (4gb memory nice amd/ati cpu and gpu and touchscreen) but if you really decide for a HP with touchscreen you should check the drivers sections and look for the hw type: if it's a n-trig like mine you will have a field day with drivers and support problems, but if is wacom compatible it should be a nice choice.

Look thru the asus section too. They have also very nice computers. ;)

Not sure what "n-trig" or "wacom" are, but I assume component manufacturers?

The HP site is pretty useless for determining compatibility:

Touch Certification Windows 7
NOTES: Full touch functionality supported with Windows® 7 Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise, and
Ultimate operating systems only. Multitouch is not supported in Windows 7 Home Basic or Windows 7 Starter
editions, Windows Vista editions or Windows XP operating systems. Windows 7 Home Premium, Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions support extended display touch
screen functions for two monitors connected to one system. Windows 7 Home Basic and starter editions,
Windows Vista, and Windows XP do not support extend display touch functionality. They support single-touch
functions on the primary monitor only, not the secondary monitor (extended or cloned desktop).

See - that's pretty useless.  So far, asking around at places like EloTouch, you get the same answer: "Huh, I don't know, I'll check", and then you never hear from them again.

I'll keep asking around - if I find anything, I'll post it back here.

Yeah, that has been my experience too.

I was wondering if anyone here has used a specific touch monitor which they found to be compatible.

El Jeffe:
"n-trig" or "wacom" are component manufacturers of pen and touch screens and pads.

For Dan, also: Look into the support for the product on the drivers section. They have there the name of the manufactures. ;)

I did another way for my daughter as Android x86 is still no toy. I bought a cheap chinese 7 inch Android 4.0.4 tablet with single CPU 1 GHz 8 GB flash. The cost was about 80 Euros and my little girl is very happy.
