hello,

Today I got Vmware working with Android 2.2. I installed from the
generic Iso (as I didn't see one for VMs). Was I supposed to use the
eeepc one like they did for the virtual box how to?

I have no sound in the VM. This is very, very sad. I got both Svox and
talkback installed but talkback crashed. Youtube also didn't play any
sound so I assume that there is no sound support.

There is no how to for VMWare, only virtual box on the site. The
instructions I followed used the iso for 1.6, not 2.2. Could someone
tell me which iso works on Vmware the best and has support for the
es1371 codek?

All the best,
Tomi

The generic one should work.
If not, you may need to check if
you have configured the vm correctly.

What sound emulation in VMWare have you selected for this VM?

hi,

I used the default soundcard - the I didn't change any options. Isn't
the default one the es1371 (creative ensoniq) card? Or do I manually
have to define it to be an es1371?

Tonight, I tried both the EEEPC and the Froyo VM built in august of
2010. Both didn't have sound when:
-a. I tried playing a youtube video. On the froyo-20100812 VM, the
youtube app crashed. On the generic and EEEPC targets, the video
played with no sound.
-b. I installed Svox (after choosing to create a fake sdcard once
setup finished). I went to voice input/output and chose "listen to a
sample". No sound.
-c. I attempted to play an MP3 file using the media player.

-d. I installed both VMS in a machine. I can upload these vms for
someone to see if something is wrong. When I installed the
froyo-20100812 image, I rebooted and the command line popped up with
errors above it. With the EEEPC/generic image Android boots-but again,
no sound.

Ethernet works. Again, I don't know if I need to manually add
"sound.virtualdev="es1371" in my config?

All the best,
Tomi
