I'm using rbg's kitkat build from git,
android_x86-4.4-r2-64bitKRNL_32bitUSR-20150623.iso on Asus T300 Chi.
It mostly works, with some problems (e.g. resume problem, no auto
rotation) that can be avoided or work around (for example, using
exposed framework with "app settings" to work around rotation and
immersive-mode settings per application),

There's a minor annoyance though: after boot, it always detects that a
hardware keyboard is connected, thus the soft keyboard is not
displayed. I can disable hardware keyboard from languange and input
settings (which works as expected), but it always returns to "hardware
keyboard: on" after reboot.

Any ideas how to keep this setting "off" permanently? T300 doesn't
have a "hardware" keyboard in the "normal" sense -- it has a bluetooth
keyboard, but I didn't pair it in android.

A similar question was asked in the past, but no solution:

Since you're already using Xposed, it'll be easy. Get Tasker and Secure Settings. Add a profile for Device Boot and toggle the task Hardware Keyboard: Off from Secure Settings.

Thanks!

I ended up using e-robot and secure settings.

Since I ran into the same issue, could you care to go a bit further in depth on your solution?

Hey Ronald, the following steps should disable the H/W keyboard with Tasker and Secure Settings.

1. Create and name a new task
Action > Plugin > Secure Settings > Configuration > Actions > Hardware Keyboard > Off

2. Add a new profile and associate the above task
Profile > Event > System > Device Boot

Save and exit Tasker. Next boot should have the H/W keyboard disabled.

Hi,

thanks!
I was overlooking the Plugin option so I got confused when trying myself.
