Hey all newbie to this group.. I have been searching all over trying
to find a solution to watching netflix with a x86 android system
running through virtual box. I have been able to install the 1.40apk
available on xda developers however it crashes upon start up.

Any ideas to help me along? I have tried modifying the build.prop
files only to later learn that x86 is read only..

I'm also struggling with this, on a dual booting system. I have tried
the "official" netflix app, and one which has the phone model
reporting elements disabled, both try to install, but both return an
error without any details just saying the application wasn't
installed.

I guess it has a ARM *.so

Have you tried using the apk for the logitech review? The apk uses native code so you need a version that was compiled with x86 support and support for your version of Android. I doubt the version for the review will work without modification but it will be your closest start.

Yeah looking at the log and glancing at the insides of the Netflix.apk
you can tell that it has ARM specific *.so's.
------------------------------------------------------------------
/Netflix_1.5.2 build 389.apk_FILES/lib/armeabi:
libnetflix_device1.so libnetflixmp_jni.so libvoH264Dec_v7.so
libnetflix_device2.so libnfxSource_JNI.so libvoMMCCRRS.so
libnetflix_device3.so libvoAACDec.so libvoMMCCRRS_v7.so
libnetflix_device4.so libvoAndroidVR_S20.so libvompEngn.so
libnetflix_device5.so libvoAndroidVR_S22.so libvoVidDec.so
libnetflix_devicevo.so libvoH264Dec.so libvoVOME2_JNI.so
-------------------------------------------------------------------
To get it to work we'd have to port these *.so's to x86 and I have no
skill in that.

Using the the Revue's Netflix app is questionable because attempts
have been made before to port it's App to Android(Before the Netflix
App was available) but they don't look they got very far. I haven't
had a chance to look through the entire XDA thread though. The Revue's
app is also not a single apk but many spread resources so that further
complicates things.

The whole reason why I'm looking into this is for getting Netflix on
Linux. Running Netflix on Android-x86 inside VB isn't exactly a
preferred method but it's far better then Emulating Windows in VB.
Looks like this will take some doing though. However, Porting Netflix
App to Android-x86 is probably far better than wrestling with the
Android SDK ARM Emulator, which I have to say, is one of the most
Inefficient and resource hungry emulator in the world.
