hi,

thanks to your help I succeeded in building.
and it runs on my laptop. Great!
But I cannot click anything, because a modal message pops up saying "unfortunately system ui has stopped"
After clicking OK, if I am quick I can click something else. But I can hardly do anything.

In android context I found this hint: "hw.mainKeys set to false in AVD settings."
but I don't know what AVD is, and where to find hw.mainKeys.

I compiled android-4.0.4_r2.1

thanks,
JPT

Ok,
I found out the cause:
there is a RuntimeException "eglConfig not initialized" in ImageWallpaper$DrawableEngine.initGL()
ActivityManager says: "Process systemui has crashed too many times: killing!

It tries to take some screenshots? but fails...

maybe you should catch Throwable in the outmost code to prevent crashes like these?
A missing wallpaper should not crash the whole system.

How can I solve this problem? should I checkout a different version?

thanks,

Hi,

I just realized I was working on the ics-x86 branch, not a specific tag. Shouldn't I fetch a tag? Which one?
I cannot find the branches/tags through the HTTP git browser. And I don't want to load the whole project with eclipse.

I found out that eglConfig is about OpenGL (or OpenGL/ES?)?!
I tried to switch on the OpenGL emulator. But this did not help.

Could you please help? I haven't got a clue.

thanks

Thought I'd add my 02c to this.
I was having the same issue with my generic_x86 build on my Atom based PC.
The fix took a little digging but...  In my case, I think I only needed to add the i915 line, but I borrowed that setting from the eeepc profile

Add the line
BOARD_GPU_DRIVERS := i915 r600g
to the top of the  file
android-x86/device/common/generic_x86/BoardConfig.mk
