I tried adding OpenGAPPS to my Pie test build but ran into some problem. The old method of simply running repo sync after adding the required lines of codes to the android_x86_64.mk and android-x86.xml doesn't seem to be pulling all the files. There are files added in the vendor folder but during build time, it will throw file not found error.

OpenGAPPS switched to using git lfs which I don't really understand the instructions. I installed the binary package as instructed and ran "git-lfs install" command and it showed it's initialized. However, when I try using "git lfs pull" in the Andorid-X86 source folder, I keep getting "not a git repo" message. The instructions on OpenGAPPS is extremely vague, it simply state install the git lfs binary, clean, then pull. Has anyone figured out the new process?

Hello, unfortunatley i've not the answer of your question but i'm interested at the solution like you.
i would like anyway to ask to you where have you found the "old method" instructions to adding OpenGAPPS;
i mean which are the required lines of codes to add to the android_x86_64.mk and android-x86.xml ?

best regards
Max

The modifications to "android_x86_64.mk" and "android-x86.xml" are listed in the page.

The old way of grabbing the files is to run "repo sync" after modifying the above files and then compile. They recently switched to using "git lfs" which is causing some problems. I read issue #229 and followed some of the suggestions but still getting no source file found.

Just want to let people know that the solution posted in my issue on Github works. Despite a lot of `End-of-central-directory signature not found` error messages, the device setup wizard shows up and I can use Google Play to install my apps. Not sure what kind of problem these error messages lead to but until the dev team at OpenGapps fixes them, I guess it should be okay.

Latest update on the OpenGAPPS front. If you guys haven't checked out the issue list on OpenGAPPS, looks like Chih-Wei Huang made a fork of OpenGAPPS and fixed the issue. I followed the instructions here:

Basically manually made the changes to the OpenGAPPS to match what cwhuang did in commits made July 2, 2019. I tested out by compiling it with Android 9R2 and it outputted an ISO without errors. The setup wizard always shows up and I manage to configure it and use the Google Play store to install apps.

@Chih-Wei, is the configuration instruction in readme.md correct? I mean the project path values inside the manifest file.

What instruction did you mean?

I haven't tried OpenGAPPS for a long time.
I didn't remember what the issue was exactly.

In your github's page, the readme looks like this:

<remote name="opengapps" fetch="https://github.com/opengapps/"  />
<remote name="gitlab" fetch="https://gitlab.opengapps.org/opengapps/"  />

<project path="vendor/opengapps/build" name="aosp_build" revision="master" remote="opengapps" />

<project path="vendor/opengapps/sources/all" name="all" clone-depth="1" revision="master" remote="gitlab" />

<!-- arm64 depends on arm -->
<project path="vendor/opengapps/sources/arm" name="arm" clone-depth="1" revision="master" remote="gitlab" />
<project path="vendor/opengapps/sources/arm64" name="arm64" clone-depth="1" revision="master" remote="gitlab" />

<project path="vendor/opengapps/sources/x86_64" name="x86_64" clone-depth="1" revision="master" remote="gitlab" />
In OpenGapps's page, their readme looks like this:
<remote name="opengapps" fetch="https://github.com/opengapps/"  />
<remote name="opengapps-gitlab" fetch="https://gitlab.opengapps.org/opengapps/"  />

<project path="vendor/opengapps/build" name="aosp_build" revision="master" remote="opengapps" />

<project path="vendor/opengapps/sources/all" name="all" clone-depth="1" revision="master" remote="opengapps-gitlab" />

<!-- arm64 depends on arm -->
<project path="vendor/opengapps/sources/arm" name="arm" clone-depth="1" revision="master" remote="opengapps-gitlab" />
<project path="vendor/opengapps/sources/arm64" name="arm64" clone-depth="1" revision="master" remote="opengapps-gitlab" />

<project path="vendor/opengapps/sources/x86" name="x86" clone-depth="1" revision="master" remote="opengapps-gitlab" />
<project path="vendor/opengapps/sources/x86_64" name="x86_64" clone-depth="1" revision="master" remote="opengapps-gitlab" />
My goal is that for future builds, I can just pull your fork instead of the original OpenGapps source code.

I don't remember I wrote any "readme".
That should be the original readme from OpenGAPPS.

I recall I tried to fix a building error in x86(_64) and
sent them a pull request. But it's not accepted.
Then I forgot it.

You can try. But I've said I didn't test it
for a long time. Don't know it works or not.
You may use it at your own risk.

Warning noted.

But aren't the ISO available for download come with OpenGapps? Then how did you manage to build it or you used another method? I know AOSP doesn't come with Google Play Service because of some kind rule by Google.
