Hello guys. Now that I have a CPU that meets the minimum ABI requirements for android x86, I want to continue with my project. For those who don't know, I have an old pc (with an Intel core 2 duo CPU) and a GPU (AMD/ATI Radeon HD 6670), and my idea was to turn this “good” pc into and android TV “box” (kinda big the box, with a full size pc cabinet). Now, I know (I think), that what differs from normal Android and Android TV, are the Google apps. For android TV, they have a different UI, and a different “input method” other than touch. Please, correct me if I'm wrong about the differences between both Android variants. Anyway, at least I know that the gapps are different (I know this because on the OpenGapps project there are two TV Packages, with both recommended to install on TVs / Android Box). On a normal Android setup (with normal i reefer to an ARM CPU), to install a Gapps package, you have to reboot into recovery (preferably a custom one like any TWRP based recovery) and just “flash” the package, and that's it. Now, I think that android x86,
dosen't has a proper Recovery, so I would like to know, how can i “flash” zip packages. Also, I want to know if there is any possibility to “root” android x86 with Magisk (since I'll be installing android x86 Oreo or Pie).

Regards

Android TV has other differences then just the installed apps, android TV is closed source, however if you want to try you can install one of the android generic variants as they come with gearlock and you can try flashing that

I found some Android TV projects but all outdated and not fun to use, so I made one from Lineage OS 14.1 , with a TV Launcher
and Apps that let you watch live TV , it's not Android TV closed source but OPEN source and free.. butit's a themed  normal Android with a Smart TV bootanimation , and I use it everyday , was made by a guy that calls himself a Noob and praises CW Huang as his Master..of his creations,..cause he dowes not develop ,he design several crazy models MAC Blackberry Android TV all made on CM14.1 from Huang ..

there is a discord for a paid version of ATVx86 but it doesn't seem all that great to get an actually good android tv experience you will probably need to wait for an ATV dedicated ROM to be ported or try it yourself.

a good starting point would be Peyo-HD on github.
