No sound on HP Pavillon X2 10-n105nf

Hi there,
I have installed nicely Android x86 8.1 r1 on a HP Pavillon x2

But i have no sound.

The sound was all right with the native W10

I would like to know how to collect informations for find what happens and eventually try to make it work.

I've already did a # dmesg that give me a lot of :

I seems there is no driver loaded for soundcard.

Could you try other Linux distributions (Ubuntu / Fedora, etc)
to see if sound works?
Then we can know whether the driver is available
in the vanilla kernel. If yes, we may find a way
to make it work in android-x86.

BTW, the kernel used in 8.1-r1 is a little old (4.9).
Please try the newer release like 8.1-r3 or 9.0-r1
which equip with newer kernel 4.19.x.

Hello Chih-Wei, hello everyone

I have an ho pavillion x2 10-n105nl and the sound works with kernel 4.12 on opensuse leap 15.1.

The bluetooth works too as well, bit it need a little trick to works properly. 

Both (audio and bluetooth) doesn't works in androidx86.

Can you provide the dmesg, lsmod, cat /proc/asound/cards
of both cases (opensuse vs android-x86)?
Which version of android-x86 did you test?

Sound card is cx2072x, kernel 5.3+ support it, and need latest alsa-lib alsa-utils alsa-ucm-conf.

You need try ubuntu 20.04.

You're right that the driver is not available in the kernel 4.19 we use now.
However, it's interesting that opensuse has the driver in its kernel 4.12.14.
Seems they have applied additional patches...

is have usr/share/alsa/ucm2/bytcht-cx2072x ? if not, apt install alsa-ucm-conf.

oh sorry, i forget my build --prefix is system, you can mkdir -p /system/usr/share/alsa folder on ubuntu, and copy latest ucm2 folder.

What should i try for get it on AndroidX86 ?

Youling 257 has explained how to enable Sound card cx2072x on android oreo x86 by means of Mauro Rossi's patchs that howewer unfortunately are for kernel release 5.0.

So it need to check if one can apply same patches or it need to modify them to successfully enable a cx2072x sound card on kernel 4.19 (because androidx86 is built with 4.19 kernel release)

Just one note , to make audio works on android i've just added chtcx2072x.state into /system/etc/alsa, no need to alsa_ctl gestore, ecc
