Is there another way to get to the console in ICS. The old Ctrl-Atl-
F1 doesn't work anymore? I tried the virtual console app, but that
doesn't work yet.

Any advise is appreciated. Thanks all

Anywhere you type, it goes to your GUI and console.

rinaldo - that's a "debug" issue, not a feature.
Does anyone know what happened to the VTERM switch keys? Or how does
this mechanism work anyway?

Thanks.

1 - boot in Debug mode
2 - when android will come up - use Alt+F2 (then you can go to Alt+F2/
F3)

Note - I did not find a way to go back to Android - so its a one way
ticket

I uses terminal app, it's simpler and more practical.

The terminal app doesn't work. It doesn't take keyboard input - with
a keystroke, it simply flashes a red rectangle around the edges of the
screen. But I agree - that would be simpler and more practical if it
worked.

So if ctrl-alt-f1 doesn't work anymore, is there another way?

Thanks all.

Bzbit - just exit twice. But anyway i think its a bug, not a feature, and having an external app is not an acceptable workaround (what if the gui crashes repeatedly...) so there is no point in mentioning it.

The console is stopped upon successful boot, certainly because of the aforementioned issue. If you NEED the console, remove the line "stop console" from your init.rc (or ics/device/common/generic_x86/init.rc for a quick hack).

Thanks Stefan

That was helpful. Some of the other posts - not so much :)

I tried your suggestion but nothing changed, is something more
necessary to do?

What also works is if you open a terminal emulator and type
