I installed Android x86 on a Dell Latitude CPx 500MHz laptop with
512MB RAM and built-in VGA. T'is slow, but it runs, and it does
everything I need it to do (still working on the bluetooth/wi-fi/
ethernet issues) so far.
When I first installed it, every time I moved the mouse or typed a
key, the whole screen would flicker. It was annoying. I fumbled around
with the GRUB command line arguments and then came across a setting
that actually solved the problem. I added this to the "Medium
Resolution" GRUB boot option:
[Removed VIDEO=-16] DPI=160 UVESA_MODE=1024x768 vga=791
I arrived at the vga=791 value from previous installations of a flavor
of Linux I like to use on older equipment called DreamLinux, which
never fails to write me a modest yet effective xorg.conf file that I
usually end up porting to whatever beefier flavor I decide to land on
(i.e. Ubuntu 10, 11/etc) later on.
I sincerely hope this helps, as I have come to find this setting is
usually the nail in the coffin for this flicker bug among others.
I doubt if the graphic driver is not compatitble with my netbook. I am
using Lenovo S10 with the android_x86_generic.iso. I have tried the
android_x86_eeepc.iso, the speed is okay, but the ethernet does not
work. It makes me confused.Would you have any suggestion for me?
Thanks a lot.
