Since porting to the new kernel3.0.8 will involve lots of the other
things(like the driver porting), i want to keep using 2.6.35.7 kernel
with android4.0, but it seems ics-x86 will not support to do this(or i
do the wrong things?), while using the original android4.0 source,
build with 2.6.35.7 can boot successfully(even the prebuilt kernel
version is 2.6.29).

Android is not bound to a particular kernel version.
Surely you can use an old kernel.
(The SDK emulator still uses 2.6.29)

Hi,
thus I download the Android-x86 source using:
repo init -u git://git.android-x86.org/manifest.git -b ics-x86
repo sync

then remove the kernel directory and using kernel 2.6.35 instead by copy the Android.mk(kernel3.0.8) to the kernel2.6.35, it complain that don't have the target oldnoconfig, i then change it to silentoldconfig, then it ask me lots of seletion, I just type Enter, then complie has no problem, but it can't  boot sucessfully.
Can you remind how to do it rightly if i just want to replace the kernel but keep other no change? Since the boot process designed by you is very useful for me, i don't want use the vdi img but the iso to running it on vbox.

By using the original source from google which can only build vdi image, i can replace the kernel with 2.6.35 or 3.0.8, it can boot sucessfully, but the source from android-x86 can't work well.

Thanks very much.
