Has anybody got Android-x86 running on an Eeebox?

So far I see it works for certain EeePC's, so maybe the hardware is
similar and running it on an Eeebox is possible too.

Any helpful comments are appreciated. Thanks.

Unless there is an integrated Intel GPU you can switch on, you will encounter the same problem as with EeePC 1201n with NVidia ION chipset.

IF any integrated Intel GPU, this may work, but not completely positive...

Hello,

just try it. Or compare the hardware specs (chipsets for VGA, LAN, WLAN,
Audio, ...) If it matches to a supported Netbook, it should work.
(nVidia VGA currently is not supported)

Thanks for the comments guys.

I tried it and it froze up on boot. I was left with a non-blinking
cursor in the top left corner of the screen. I guess the Ion chipset
incompatibility is the issue. Is anyone working on porting a driver
for the nVidia Ion?

Thanks again,
Matt.

No hardware switch to flip on the Intel GPU, if any ?

Sorry then...

Hopefully someone will work on NVidia ION (or not ION) support, one of the day... ^^

I know this is working with Linux distributions both on kernel and mesa level, but afaik, there is only one guy working on the Android-x86 Mesa port, and I'm not yet quite sure about the Android-x86 Mesa version (probably in between 7.1 and 7.2...) when official Mesa is now 8.1/8.2...

So you will have to be very very patient... ^^

Mesa doesn't have 8.1 or 8.2 (yet).
The latest release is 8.0.2, the version that ics-x86 used.

Though mesa porting for nvidia (actually nouveau) is possible,
the most essential problem is we don't have the hardware.
Another problem is time, of course.

Yes sorry, I miss type the number version, you probably understood...

The latest release is 8.0.2, the version that ics-x86 used.

Really ???

What I get from my last sync with ICS-x86 is this from different files in relation to android files (external/mesa folder) :

/*
 * Mesa 3-D graphics library
 * Version:  7.12
 *
 * Copyright (C) 2010-2011 Chia-I Wu

May be the headers files are outdated, so I have to compare all the Android-x86 mesa files upon orginal 8.0.2 tar ball... ^^

Yeah, I understand but Linux version is at least working... I'm not criticizing since I'm not a mesa specialist.
Just wondered how much time it takes to make the port ???

Thanks very much. I'll be patient and wait for someone to build a
compatible version some day. :-)

USB and "works" with Wi-Fi, Market...etc
