Is Play Store Installed By Default

I'm having problem with the Google Play Store after including the OpenGAPPS project into the build. However, after I removed the reference from the device MK file, I still see the Play Store icon and it's still crashing until I disable the app. But Chrome is gone. I didn't delete the vendor folder but I did do a clean build. So is Play Store automatically included regardless of having OpenGAPPS?
