unable to connect to proxy ethernet in android 4.3, installed in VMWare Player

I am using ubuntu 12.04, I have installed android 4.3 in vmware player.

I am unable to connect to internet.

This computer has proxy settings.

I have tried these commands, but no result.

setprop global_http_proxy_host mynetworkproxy

setprop global_http_proxy_port 8080

export http_proxy=http:proxy:80

export https_proxy=http://proxy:80

I tried this command but it says 

unable to open database "/data..." unable to open database file.

sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db 

also i don't have permission to goto that location.

How can i change the permission?

how to login to root?
