Hi Everybody !
First off I would like to say that I love what this project is doing.
Recently I built myself a hackintosh on my Asus Eee PC 1005HAB
I was originally going to triple boot it with XP and Ubuntu 10.10 but
then
I found out about Android x86. The Default bootloader I use is
Chameleon v2 RC4
I already know that in order to boot from Chameleon to any linux
partition depending on grub
I must install Grub on the partition itself rather than the mbr. Now I
know how to do this with Ubuntu
But I don't know what Version of Grub it uses. So I came to ask what
version of Grub does Honeycomb use
Maybe I can find it and install it to the partition that android x86
is on. And another question can I boot up android
with a more recent version of grub such as Grub2 that comes with
ubuntu 10.10?

Using Android-x86 is independent from GRUB, just do not install grub during installation and add a new entry manually to your preferred grub installation (for example your ubuntu installation)

Best regards

Yea but since I'm using Chameleon as my default bootloader I have to install grub to the root of the active partition like I have done with my ubuntu partition. I need to find away to install Grub-legacy onto the root of the Android partition in order to boot android. That's my question how do I do that? How do I install Grub-legacy to the root of the android partition in order to chainload it with Chameleon Bootloader.

You do not understand! Just do it like you have done with ubuntu or do it with ubuntu. Don't care about the grub coming with androidx86. Install android-x86 to any partition. And configure your grub (which version does not care) manually with the necessary entry for android-x86. You can install grub/grub2 with every distribution you want.

So long as chameleon is capable of loading a kernel and an initrd, you
do not need grub at all. just add the lines that would be in grub to
chameleon. If it is not capable, you need to add the files to the
partition (i.e. /boot/grub) and run grub from an os that has it
installed, then:

root (hd0,x)
setup (hd0,x)
