That seems a bit strange. But there really is no need for installing grub. It should work fine without it.

The command you gave there is only possible if you chose to install Grub during the installation of Android. Try searching for it in package manager on Ubuntu if you get the same error and install it.

Right, I've installed Android-x86 after installing Ubuntu but when I
go to update grub using "sudo update-grub" command, it still doesn't
find it. I've given it a custom menu entry similar to the one in this
guide:

The menu entry itself is there, but when I select it from the grub
menu it gives me this error:
error: file not found.
error: you need to load the kernel first.

Any help anyone?
