After much hair pulling, I was finally able install Android X86 on my Asus Mini Transformer T102HA - although there are a few components not working.
T102HA specs:
- Intel Atom x5-Z8350
- Intel HD Graphics with shared graphics memory
- Realtek Audio
In case anyone his this computer, here's a short install guide (YMMV):
Pre-install steps
1) Power down computer and hold down F2 during boot to access BIOS
2) Disable Secure Boot
3) Disable "Windows Boot Manager"
What didn't work
1) Created a new 15 GB partition and formatted as EXT4
2) Used Rufus to format a bootable USB drive using android-x86_64-6.0-r1.iso
3) Live Android option did not work
4) Then tried to install onto the EXT4 partition; one guide said to not format as EXT4 during the install process, other guides said to format as EXT4. Tried both ways, and each time installation completed without errors. However, I could never boot into Android, was always met by a hanging black screen.
What finally worked
1) Created a new 15 GB partition and formatted as NTFS
2) Used Androidx86-Installer-for-Windows (
https://github.com/ExtremeGTX/Androidx86-Installer-for-Windows) to install android-x86_64-6.0-r1.iso
3) Was able to boot into Android successfully!
What works:
1) wifi
2) keyboard/touchpad
3) touch screen
4) Google Play store
What doesn't work:
1) Rotation (I downloaded a free rotation app, so not a big deal)
2) No audio
3) Video playback doesn't work. Website videos don't play. YouTube crashes.
3) Hardware buttons (power, volume keys) don't work. I downloaded a few shutdown apps, but none of them work (they cause the Settings app to crash). I've had to resort to holding down the power button for 5 seconds to force the power off.
Hope this helps someone to install - does anyone have any thoughts/ideas on how to get the audio, video, power button functioning?
