I've had a Motorola Xoom, WiFi only, for 3 months now and have given
up trying to get it recognized by my Kubuntu Systems. I did find a
rather complex method and was able to get it working on one system but
it was not successful on others - probably my fault, but there were a
dozen steps and it was only proven to work on an earlier version than
the one I'm using (Natty). I still keep one Windows XP system and it
at least works fine.
I'm hoping someone will come up with a simple utility for (K)ubuntu to
recognize the Xoom.
For photographs my solution was to buy an Eye-Fi card and transfer
pictures wirelessly. It's expensive ($100 for the 8 GB version) but it
works very well. I can take pictures and show them on my Xoom within
minutes, even when there is no WiFi connection as the Eye-Fi card does
ad hoc mode if there is no known network available.
The Xoom is still a work in progress but will be great when this is
fixed and the SD card becomes activated.
