how to debug a customized android testing support library

Hi the Android Testing Support Library world,

    I am new to here. I have downloaded the android testing support library according to this link: https://android.github.io/android-test/contribute/index.html

    I have successfully compiled it from the command line. Then How can I test/debug this library?     I have searched a lot (and also inspected all the tickets in this forum), but still cannot find any clues.
